I am getting head shims laser cut from mild steel to suit my GX head, to bring the comp ratio back down to allow me to use pump fuel. This SHIM will suit other A-Series heads that have had the buggery milled off them.

2.0mm -AUD$40.00

2.5mm -AUD$40.00

3.0mm -AUD$40.00

Wouldn't mind some extra $$ on top of your payment to pay for the drawing which I did myself (that's up to you though, I know how the Datsun budget is), also remember postage costs.

Take the opportunity to get them for cheap, seeing as the drawing has been done for you already.

Please email me ASAP [address in profile] if you are interested and tell me what thickness you want. The bore on the shims are 78mm so if you want any specific size then let me know and I'll adjust the drawing to suit.

Here is the thread that this all came from; Decreasing Comp Ratio - copper gasket or chamber expansion?

EDIT: Cheap option for you turbo freaks too? Instead of paying to install big dish pistons use a head shim until you get the funds to replace the pistons (and re-build).

Or for those guys trying the rescue that over-milled speedway head- here's your chance.

Great price Chris, They are more like decompression shims rather that head gaskets arnt they? You would still need to run a head gasket on top? Or have I missed something.

Hey Michael,

I wouldn't know you'd need to check your compression ratio first. You might need to do a bit of searching, I think forced induction engines like a nice low comp ratio; (1:8.0 ?) can anyone confirm?

Do a search on the forum and have a look. I can ask around but I'm not going to tell you to buy one!

A 1.5mm Mild Steel Head shim from Permaseal - Motor Traders [part number AJ130S15] is $88.00 or $104.00 if they order it in, so there are some great savings to be had here.

very keen mate, going to bore to 78mm so as long as it sits on the block true it sounds good.

when do you need to know by? i've just got to work out what thickness i need - can they do bigger?

cheers
Leigh

This is one of my steel shims I got made up years ago, this particular one is 1.80mm thick after surface grinding.

It's offset bored and big piston sized.

The price you quote Chris is a good price.
