Gylezy love your mani but can I suggest a lil improvement?
The 1st and 4th pipes will cause the pulses to be forced
back up each other unless there is a separator or they are
welded onto the 2nd and 3rd pipes only. So youll have just
the 2nd 3rd into exiting into the turbo flange and the others
using part of the 2nd and 3rd endings. Almost like two Y into 1.
Also the angle could be improved by moving the turbo flange out
a little or angling the pipes towards the flange, hope my
image and engrish makes sense.

I missed that pic Dan, maybe just a couple of short bends trimmed down to merge into that main junction where it feeds the turbo, but a baffle running down the centre of the 2 & 3 runners would serve okay (frankthedolphintrainer's manifolds had this)I thought you had mentioned the baffle a while back.

I suggest runners 1 and 4 came into the collection on top and underneath of 2 & 3, that includes a few more bends though and would affect costs.

Well spotted but I wouldn't be too pedantic about it seeing that the valve will be closed anyway, and the passage to the turbo open good time to mention it though.

if you can just turn 1,4 bends circled inward a tad it you wont
need extra pipe. Just direct straight pipe to the sides of the
2,3 pipes. Leaving 2,3 squashed up will keep both side separated
without the need of a baffle. 2 YY like will flow very well and
make less welding. Reversion is a terrible waste of flow otherwise
regardless if the valve is closed on the other end or not.
Jmac also suggested in a previous thread to make the flange outlets
not matched ported but 1mm larger so if the pulses reverse they hit
the 1mm smaller exhaust port head face. Jmac can clear this theory up.

Increase in time to manufacture to make everything flow nice 200-300%

Increase in performance with everything flowing nice 5-10%

why bother on a old a-series just do it the easy way and get the 90-95% benefit!!!

not trying to hijack this thread, but on the topic of the frank the dolphin trainer manifolds, (That was what I thought when I saw the above pics too) I've been wondering of late what happened to all those manifolds? I would have thought with all the enthusiasim at the time that every 2nd or third datsun would have been turbo'd by now? Or is it just becuase I'm too lazy to browse project forum I've missed them all?

You're right they're probably serving as over sized paperweights.

Dan's version have a considerably larger ID than the FDT manifolds and are much closer and higher up I believe. I'm sure he'll address the collector issue (or has intentions to) but really it wouldn't matter THAT much, a baffle would work fine.

hi Daniel, i am in pretoria sa, i like what i c, cannot c the first few pics thou can you mail them to me pls. i agree with alot of gays on the flow issue, but what do you want just a lekke toy, or raising the big boys? for a toy your on the way, for raising 10% more power can make the diff. Myself, i like thing neat and tidy, i would prob sand the welding and smooth everything over.

you say you going to manufacture some, Fantastic!
My advice (if wanted) build them to the customer spec and you'll prob end up making them look ever better.
