hey guys i have been disapointed with the datsun gods for not giving us a car that we could steal the disk brakes of and fit it on our 1000's so i thought id try stuffing around in the garage with some trx rear brakes.

ive found if i take of all the drum assembly of the 1000 front and fit the trx alloy caliper mount, 3 out of the 4 holes line up with the 1000 drum mounting holes. then i sliped the rear disk over the hub and bolted the caliper on. all looks to line up but the alloy mount needs grinding in some areas to allow for some of the 1000 steering. U mite notice the caliper is of being centre to the disc by only a couple of mm. just wondering if i could just space that.

ive only dummy'd this up on my bench so far and i have no idea if the caliper is even good enough to use as a front caliper or if this even fits on the car but i thought id see what u guys thought.

can someone also give me an example of what i have to do to link a pic so that it comes up automaticly

well by a guy on ozdat this does work. i trying to find out what master to run but i think it was standard. i think theres also some valve to take out going to discs aswel

pls let me know which hub your are using as 1200 coupe hubs are rare now.
tried 1975 120y but wrong bearing sizes.

Plus the added bonus of 4 wheel hand brake, haha. [not serious]

lol. stock hub. i also got some trx front brake lines so im hoping that will reach. imagine it. u could have 2 handbrakes and do stand stills all day long insted of a line locker

I was going to say :) imagine that all those years stuffing round with sigma discs and 1200 coupe hubs!!!

Are you using the backing plate of the drum or the bluebird has a caliper bracket in the shape
of that circle? I cant make out how strong the caliper is held on????

This is a good thread, I've been thinking about rear discs for a while. I was thinking about using early subaru front calipers on my diff as they have a handbrake mechanism buit in, anyone tried that, would I be wastng my time?

dont trx ones fit on the back aswell?

levey, subaru L series calipers are commonly used for disc conversions onto hilux diffs

R31 or falcon calipers are probably easier to get though
