I made a Cold Air Box for the Datsun 1200 and also a Fire Wall to seal off the trunk area from the cabin with some aluminum sheet. I mocked it up all up in cardboard before cutting in aluminum. I really need a beed roller and a welder to do this right, but for my first attempt I am satisfied for now.

The trunk firewall will be covered with Dynamat and carpet eventually (maybe even a back seat) and the cold air box will be sealed up at the back and maybe have the ca18det AFM bolt to the back of it like the ARC ones. As you can see it feeds through a nice vent in the front grill and should help out a bit. I also have to rotate the radiator overflow outlet or drill a hole int he cold air box and run the hose through it to the tank which will be mounted near to the rad cap and rad fan.

i also got brand new front bumper from parts place up in the country, paid $50 usd for the last one still in the rotten nissan box, a little elbow grease later it looks awesome :)

I also lowered the front lip about a 1.5" looks better and tucked in deeper. Next is to install the 280zx Struts, brakes and GC Coilovers with new tokikos it looks like all round :) then some wheels and off to paint before any more mods..

here are a couple vids of start up and a test drive, have more to upload...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd_8n-TRAhA
first start over a month, with only about 3 liters of fuel in the fuel pressure was all over the place, after getting her to a gas station and filling up, set Fuel pressure to ~38psi and she's running allot better. This CA18 has a Subaru Sti IHI turbo welded to the CA18 cast manifold.. this is to be replaced soon.

here is a boring test drive,

What color do you think I should paint it? I'm on other side of the planet, so its okish if i copy someones color :P

I was thinking Silvier (like famous pumped b110 sedan) or a darker charcoal silver..

here are the wheels i am picking up from the wheel shop around the corner, 15x7 +15 offset and he is trying to source some 195 50 ZR15 Toyo R88's for me

been really thinking about my front suspension set up recently and have bitten the bullet and got some TEIN HA 16 way damper adjustable coil-overs from a S13 along with the brakes and control arms etc. I will be getting some softer 200lb springs to replace the ~400lb Tein ones. I also plan on using the rear dampers without the coil springs, but I have ti check the length of the stock b110 rear struts (or one fo you nice chaps could tell me :P)

I bolted everything up and it looks like you can use the stock B110 castor/tension rod once you drill new holes in the S13 lower control arm and add more threads to the b110 castor rod so you have more adjustment to caster.

one good thing about the S13 bits, is that they are every where locally, so parts/bushings/adjustable bits are easy to get. the down side is as you all know is the increased track, but I am thinking of using T3 adjustable LCA kit to bring in the track some, but this will affect the camber etc so we'll see..

OK OK OK

So I bolted up my original lower control arms that I thought were B110 stuff, but turns out they are B310 (or 210) arms with B310 ball-joints.. and the tension rods are different too as the S13 ends screwed right on there without any tapping the rods..

the thing is the lower ball joint is at an awkward angle, still, but I realized my Tein camber plates dont give as much adjustments as other camber plates as they were designed for the S13 and would be mounted the opposite way as the b110.

So i am thinking of getting T3 camber plates as they offer allot more negative camber adjustment.. but then the ball joint is still a little off angle.. so I am trying to get KE70/AE86 lower control arms as they have the ~8* of taper at the ball-joint, but are shorter than the S13 units..

here are the Tein camber tops mounted

But for now, I am going to mount up everything and dial in as much camber as possible and see how it is, I'll try the KE lca's and then maybe the T3 camber plates

here are some photos for now

Sitting 22.5" from ground to the fender lip, 205 50 15's fitted.. i need to run 185's even 45 series if i can find for the front..

this is the AE86/KE70 control arm vs the S13 and others.. I will press in S13 balljoints.. and get the S13 balljoint angle almost right and keep the track within being able to eventually get some decent wheels.

so this : 120Y Control Arm, Ball Joint. 1200 Caster Rod, S13 Steering end, 120Y Tension Rod, S13 Spindle, Brakes and Tein Coilovers..or ae86/ke70 control arms .... are all the parts needed to get s13 gear into a 1200, no machining? great stuff. better than modding 120y struts with brakets for s13 calipers as s13 stuff can be had everywhere.

personally id use 2225 or 250ld spings. im using 200 and can be too soft some times.

well it looks like the AE86 control Arm is the ticket,
I didnt want to drill my crossmember incase i wanted to ever swap back to smaller/stock control arms

the AE86 guys use the S13 coilovers as a common swap

I have contacted my local TEIN dealer and he says he can get me 200lb and 250lb springs easily

I also found 8" 280lb STANCE springs on ebay for like $60
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STANCE ... ccessories#ht_1131wt_1099

(the tein HA's I have are 6k - 5K - 400lb front and 300lb rear if i remember correctly)

I put the rear springs on the front (as they are softer - but they are longer so I am thinking of cutting them down to the correct length - but think its easier to order new springs) I set the dampers on the softest setting and it seems like its at a nice setting for now.. this isn't my daily driver, and I'm not going to be going on bumpy back roads with this car, mostly highway, carpark and coastal roads to the beach..

Sorting out that tension rod tomorrow and more updates soon...

would be easier/cheaper to get your current strut tops machined out for more adjustment. been done a couple of times with s13 camber tops in 1200s

mik, as you can see from the last pic, running datsun LCAs and balljoints doesnt really end but with a desirable balljoint angle with the s13 stuff

thanks PIGDOG, and that's why the AE86/KE70 control arms should be used, they have the correct ball joint angle an are shorter than S13 arms, keeping the track in check.
