5speed - manual trans tunnel

hey guys and gals, i was wondering how much trouble there was fitting a five speed box into a manual trans tunnel of a 1200 sedan... (has A15 fitted) how much 'persuasion' will be needed from my good friend Mr Hammer the box will possibly a toyota box of somesort as they should be easier to source (?) than any other boxs... any info on prices and/or other soulutions will be much appretiated. thanks, mark

if its a celica box ur going dont look anywhere else for a 5speed i have been told they are great boxes and yes the tunnel might need some loving by the hammer if you go this box

No hammering of the manual tunnel is needed to fit a B310 (Sunny) 5-speed. I had both the A15 and 60a 5-speed in my 1200. It's a total bolt in.

I did the same thing although the mounting gave me grief and depending on what clutch cable you have you made need to give the tunnel a few kisses.

MATE GO FOR THE DOG LEG FIVE SPEED OUY OF A 310 SUNNY. THEESE ARE PRETTY STRONG AND BOLT STRAIGHT UP TO THE MOTOR. ALL YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IS FABRICATE A NEW GAERBOX CROSSMEMBER.

cheers for the replys dudas now for some more questions form me

arent the five speed datto boxes a little tricky to source?? i was under the impression that they might be pretty difficult to obtain thats why i was thinking of a celica box, theyve got a good rep amungst the 1200 crew... also what about fitting a skyline box of some sort

5-speed Datsun gearboxes are easy to source. You just need some money . There is one for sale in the classifieds right now (in Melbourne). Another for sale on eBay (in USA). On just sold two days ago (in Seattle).
