Coupe running sweet, now the diff has been overhauled. Few more things to tidy up. Might look at modifying tunnel to reduce the slight angle the gearbox is on. But wont do this or anything major till winter.

Picked this beast up on Ebay and it's the current project. Going to convert it back to a road bike as it originally was. Its a 1971 Yamaha L2G so if anyone knows of an original set of forks somewhere let me know.

Have completely stripped it now and the frame and swing arm assy is etched, primed up ready for paint. Ive also sourced all the bits I need to overhaul the 100cc power plant and then that can go back in. Got new guards, exhaust, lights, rubbers etc from Thailand and the US.

Supposed to be a cheaper project, but still spent some $$$ in the 12months since I brought it.

Planning some mods for Easter Monday, but everytime I start something it takes me 6 months.

Aiming to re-do the gearbox mount and raise the rear of the box by about 25mm in the car. Then I will cut off and re-make the mounts on the R31 diff to match this modification. All going well I will achieve a better pinion angle on the drivetrain setup.

Obviously this is going to effect the exhaust and possibly the intercooler piping, but hopefully the silicone pieces will componsate on the intake and exhaust will only need subtle mods.

Goin to make a new section for the tunnel near the shifter and the diff mountings next week at work all going well.

Custom cars dont ever seem to end and progress on the bike has been slow. But primer on the bike is done and have been playing around with colours to get the gold metalic I want.

Heading to Dowerin this weekend for some driving events on Saturday and show shine on Sunday.

But got few problems to sort out. Ordered new hub seals for stanza hubs, but got wrong ones. So hopefully correct ones arrive tomorrow. Bearings and hubs been cleaned and re-greased ready to go back on when get new seals.

Trying to nail down decent priced set of rear shocks, but looks like set will cost me $200. No catalogues have shock length and stroke details, so makes it hard to look at substituting shocks from another model.

To lift back of box need to cut tunnel around shifter and re-make that bit, then modify gearbox mount and probally exhaust.

Then rotate mountings on diff to get pinion to line up better than it is now. Hopefully tailshaft wont need to be shortened slightly.

The old Yamaha is in bits now Jesse, almost ready for paint. But rode my 650 YAmaha to work today as Xtrail getting clutch and 1200 got no front wheels.

Here you go Jesse, few pix of the bike. Engine re-built, Frame painted and new loom installed.

Now need some motivation in regards to the datto. Made up some templates from some rear mud flaps but that was as far as I got.
