When I look at this box and my stumpy, I feel its so overkill to
run a heavy stumpy behind a low power ca engine in a 1000.

Yup, best mini-project build.

So what is the gearbox worth Don? And how much would this rebuild cost him (if you are allowed to disclose the costs)?

Almost sorta close but not really if you kinda sorta know what I mean...

A common problem with running a heavy duty clutch is that the pivot ball breaks. Even the heavy duty Nismo one fails on a semi regular basis. So we were commissoned to build a custom adaptor to adapt a slave cylinder straight onto the nosecone. @ of the bolt holes are faced off to a specific depth and a nice shoulder for the bracket to rest on is machined onto the snout. The new slave cylinder is put over the snout. As follows.

Pretty cool huh...

As for the clutch situation, we also made a custom chromoly flywheel to suit a 7 & 1/2 inch ceramic triple plate clutch. It is some pretty serious bit of gear. While I am not at liberty to discuss what the gentleman has spent on his gearbox and related parts, you can imagine that it so far has not been standard work. The dog first, input mod and flywheel took alot of time to draw and make so he is up for the development cost as well. Well, not all of it, not even 1/4 of it but being a one off it costs money. But if anyone wanted to install a slave cylinder assy like this to their Datsun it would cost approx $800 for the slave and adaptor. They would have to supply a snout for modification also.

Cheers guys, I figures that some people might get a kick out of it. While it hardly a manual to go by I found it very interesting as we have been getting alot of old Group A stuff lately. I did a couple of Getrag boxs, one for an old TWR Group A Commodore which was a buzz and one from an old Jag V12 XJS as well. While we do mostly Dog race boxs there are some old synchro stuff that we tinker with. After all, Holinger engineering has been doing this stuff for over 35 years, and Peter was doing it long before that as a hobby too.

If there is enough interest I will do a thread rebuilding a 56a 4 speed, maybe followed by a 71 series 5 speed and maybe a diff.

For my 1000 I am looking at adapting a 71 series to a A series bell housing, I am also negotiating a E15ET for it, so it may be promising.
