diff noise???

hi i finnaly got my 120y registered and took it on the highway i noticed i whine at high speeds (100km) when you let go of the accelerator it dissapears then press it and makes whine again!

could this be bearings on axle or diff centre? i will check oil level on saturday!

also its a auto!

My ute been like that for years, just turn the radio up a bit louder every 6 months. Dulls the noise a bit.

Un-likely to be bearings if the noise goes away when you back off.

If its a Borg Warner diff I would lean towards the crown and pinion being worn. Or the pre-load on the crown and pinion is way off.

I have a simular whine, under hard acceleration. ZBut it dissappears when my wife gets out of the car.

Yours will be either pinion bearings, crownwheel/pinion whine or low oil.

Probably worn the hardening off the crown wheel and pinion.I have a couple the same.There is supposed to be an additive to put in the oil to help with this.

mine does it too, usually when i drive away from revhads house, and his fits of laughter.

nah, mines a h150, and whines at 100kmh and up. they all seem to do it eventually. im with ivan, and save up for a h165 conversion eventually.
