Hi guys can you please advise me on the following?

How much do you lighten the standard flywheel?
How do you increase your oil pressure?
Is it helpfull performance wise to knife edge the crank?
Is a 280 degree cam to wild for daily use ?
Can you still use the standard push rods and cam followers?

Damn, it seems that I'm missing and only today discovering all the South African build threads.

GTR Damn you for stating the fact that you will be starting to but it together as I still have to spray.

Glad to see you are keeping it clean, with no big ass spoilers and sideskirts.

If you intend on using it as a daily, knife edge is not worth itm rather get the motor balanced, 280 cam is wild, no gains with standard carb. I use the standard followers and push rods on our race motor.
Flywheel, again what will the use be, I use a 3.8kg wheel on the motor, crap to pull away, but on a balanced motor, it makes for a rather quick revving toy.
Why do you want to up the oil pressure?

Well some say when you put in a performance cam you need to increase your oil pressure to prevent engine failure!!! I am going to run two 40 SD carburettors with the 280 cam will it idle with that cam?? Semi-Racing and daily use when they balance the motor what precisely do they do?? My avatar is actually a other guys creation which I just copied but it is a real bakkie that does exist!!
3.8 motor with turbo auto box and hilux transfer case on hilux diffs, and no chassis but the original Nissan shell that’s just re-enforced

I think rather than up your "oil pressure", you prob want higher flow. (hi vol). I know from building other engines this requires a pump with different impellers to achieve this. I dont think a cam change would cause oiling issues, but probably using it constant hi revs may starve your top end for oil... Another thing we did with the Holden V8's was to debur the block and all the oil gallery holes inside so all the oil would flow around better. Not too familiar with the Datsun engines but these sort of mods are free and may negate the use of aftermarket pumps.

Cheers Ed

Thanks guys for the advice will definitely help to get the 1400 going a bit faster then it normally did. I have 2 40 delortos side draughts will they work nicely with the 276 cam and lighten flywheel with the balanced motor???? Can the standard 4 speed gearbox and diff take the punishment?

That is for some other brands of engines that are not as good as Datsun A-series. The A-series does not require increased pressure even for racing.

Off topic i know but...
that orange bakkie is awsome!!!
That really does look the part. How is the body flex with that considering it has no chassis?
