Well people, my 1200 couldnt get a pink slip so im stuffed. So, what im gonna do now is the rest of the mechanical work and panel work while its out of rego.

OK, for starter i can get a Toyota 5 speed box no problem. I can get a clutch no problem. But im still stuck on what diff to use. I dont want a heavy bastard and i dont want somthing
that will break. I am thinking of a cut down commodore borg warner diff with a 1400 track width. Commo calipers and disc's with an LSD 4.1:1 centre. What do u guys think??? Is there
a better option?

Now, panel work. Who was finding out prices for fibreglass panels??? I WILL buy a bonnet, boot lid, both front panels and front skirt panel thing no matter what the price is. Was it
someone in NZ??

man over here a pink slip is something you dont want to get! crazy. what did it get pulled up on? is that like compliencing? sweet, different systems, your governing body is more strict
than they are over here you would pretty much get away with most stuff, specially if it was just a larger worked A series engine, if it looks like it should be there then its all good :) oh

Chris, sounds like you've got it made in New Zealand. Here in New Jersey (USA), the DMV won't knock you down just for having a non-original power plant, but, the emissions must pass the
standard set for that particular year and model car, and, those standards are based on a stock vehicle in good mechanical condition. Also, it is illegal to remove ANY pollution control
systems that were originally fitted on your car. The way around all this is to register you car as "Historic". No inspection is required but the catch is that the car is supposed to only
be used for exhibition and educational purposes.

By the way, I always enjoy reading your posts. You guys talk awful funny over there, and I love it!

why not take the whole A15! If it's abandoned, you can legally take whatever the hell you want of it. Well, thats the law here in SA. My friend and i got a XA ford that way,
turned it into a buggy.

ask your local police, see if they let you take it, thats what i'd do =)

hey davo, I have had a look into the VN commodore diff thing. It is a good diff, & is not too heavy, and has 10"ers but the cheapest I could get one in the car for is about $1450
with LSD.

I have heard some cheaper options. A scorpion/sigma rear has discs and a similar wheel track, but I dont know about lsd, U may need do whip out the welder. A gemini diff & axles has
a similar wheel track and come in both drumo's and discs and U can get a LSD or minispool for a gemini rear for next to nothing.

Heaps of the stuff I get just from talking to wreckers over the phone, I dont know if it is all true or not please tell me if it is not.

I've rung a few different diff joints and they all recomend the Commo diff for what im going to use the car for. Gemini diffs i think would break too easy. Or maybe not, i have heard
of a 202 6cyl Gemini with a stock diff that ran pretty fast times down the 1/4. I'll keep looking round, im sure somthing will pop up that will be perfect for my car. Thanks anyway.

Yeah Scott check out the Falcon Ute diff - it has been posted before. LSD and was only a few hundred to convert from
what I remember.
