Only turbo's with no internal wastegate need external wastegating!

Or where the internal one is too small

Waste g ates are deadweight! Take it off and I guarentee your car will be faster, maybe not so long life but definatley faster.

yeah don't run a waste gate but if you have a aftermarket ECU then just set the rev limiter lower that way you don't overboost.

(Please don't actually try that, it was my attempt at a joke)

the turbo im using is a KKK K-36 with no internal waste gate, and the motor is a a12. Its ok i cant be stuffed wasting a heap of money on a waste gate so im making my own set up, im making a custom waste gate out of a ball valve so i can fully adjust it.. has any 1 ever see nthis done ???? thank you

Dudes...lets stop the crap...and get terms straight, and start to build a plan.

Wastegate = Mechanism for slowing down turbo speed by diverting engine exhaust gas around the exhaust wheel on the turbo.

Blow off valve = Mechanism for venting compressed intake charge to atmosphere or back to the intake of the turbo. This keeps the speed of the turbo up.
Boost Adjustment valve = valve for bleeding off plenum pressure to make the wastegate actuator work higher in the boost range, resulting in higher boost.

Answer about using a ballvalve..NO WAY. The cost of a ball valve that could cope with 1000degree exhaust temperatures would be difficult to find and not appropriate for the job.

Boost is the ability of a a turbo to push more air than an engine can use. When talking about "turning up the boost" you are effectively allowing the turbo to spin faster.

Get a turbo with an integral wastegate. Finding a cheap external wastegate for that turbo will be almost impossible. (If it is infact a non-integral wastegate model).
