I'm going down the path of getting some stretch on... (leave your opinions at the door, just need info on the brand)

I'm running 14x8s - currently 255/60r14s up front and 225/65r14s on rear... I know weird backwards tractor set-up. Anyway I'm looking at getting some 185/60s or 195/60s pending the amount of stretch. Gemstones are like $85 a tyre! That is the cheapest tyre I think I've ever thought about purchasing... So are they sh1t?

hmmm, I'll look them up and see if this mob stock them. Wet can be an issue as I'll be driving with a locker in the rear..... oh well, I'll have to see how it goes.

I have gemstones on the front of my 180SX for street tyres. Only coz I had them lying around from a set of wheels I bought a while ago. They're OK. Not the world's greatest performance tyre, but they're not crap either. No problem in the wet either.

scratch that - mine are roadstone, not gemstone...

the goodrides seem to only come in 185/60s not in a 195. I'm new to stretch and don't want to have a ridiculous amount of stretch and protruding rim for obvious defect reasons. Hence the option to a 195. I might see how the gemstones look first with both sizes. It isn't a daily and I wouldn't drive it in the rain unless no other option.

Got a set of Gemstone Darkhorse in 185x65x13 on a set of mags. Have used them on the road but not super grippy. Were good in motorkahans on the tar with 40 pound of air in them.

Have a look at tirestretch.com to get an idea on what the combo's will look like, it might help you make your mind up about the size. They could turn out alot different to those picture as different brand tyres can give very different results when stretched. I couldn't see a 195/60/14 on an 8 inch rim - probably isn't much of a stretch. There is 195/55/14 and 185/60/14 though and they both look fairly rounded and don't have any rim protuding. Good luck.

The gemstones are a real cheap tyre, they are not noisy, not bad in the dry for the price, they last long and don't expect much in d wet. I can spin the wheels in my auto charade no worries in the wet and the good old charade is no power house. I would also mention that one of the gemstone tyres makes the car pull to one side when fitted to the front, so now it stayes on the back!

that is a great site - 175/50 are the look huh. I'd love them but they scream 'come & defect me'. I'll see how I get on.

Thanks for the help!
