I didn't realise they already had an anti tramp device! I'll find out how much it is.

Ogyris. Already ahead of you. I've asked mark what deal he can do for us with this group buy for people who want the system.

I've also asked for a final shipping quote on the eight sets so everyone knows and once someone is nominated to take payments we can get the order in.

Personally I think you can achieve similar with local spring makers price might be more but Meh.

Also by adding or changing springs in your stock pack you can achieve similar results, just need a spare pack and a longer locating bolt such as 120y ones.

With out knowing exactly what spring rate are heights you need it's as much a gamble as playing with your stock setup. But at least you can change your stock set up back and be $500 richer for it.

A decent rear away bar would be a better investment imho as I have found.

Good initiative. I like his slapper bar set UPS though.

I'm with you unfamilia - that's the way I did it back on my old street turned race car 1200 coupe, and I kept tuning them as I changed to more powerful engines. Had great results for just the cost of another set of 120Y leaves from the wreckers, which was only about $30 back then. My leaves were fairly soft and the sway bar was a big part of the overall spring rate. Nice soft springs gave good traction off the line and the big swaybar helped turn-in with the locked diff. It handled great and cost next to nothing. Its the way I'm going to do it again with my new 120Y street/track car.

I can see the appeal of these FRP springs and the add-lightness ethos, but the unkowns they seem to be dealing with are a worry for the cost and the remoteness of the after-sales service. There's tried and tested aftermarket products here, readily available and not stupidly expensive. Leaf springs in these 1200s and similar are not that heavy anyway, and only a fraction of the total unsprung weight in the rear end.

There must be a setting or height that everyone is happy with that also allows further lowering if required, either way theres no doubt its definitely new ground.
For some pointers probably best to contact the datsun fairlady owner that has done it for his opinion on whats best for our lighter weight datsuns. He probably has some sound advice and views that could help.

Yes well if some have had success with 120Y leaves, let's hear about it. I'm all for cheap options. I did try using the three leaves off the 120Y and it was very stiff and made my car oversteer. That's why I'm looking for a different option. Any pointers on using leaves from other vehicles on 1200s would be great though. What about the toyota corolla KE30 or KE35 for instance? They used rear leaf springs, and they're quite common.

Using leaves off another car is not optimum. They are still made out of heavy spring steel, and have the same sliding/friction problems.

Yes, you can make the car roadholding well with steel springs, but it will never approach the smoothness of a composite monoleaf.

Latest reply from Mark.

"Hello Joey,

Best shipping price is $515.00 for the 3 parcels shipped together as a single shipment.
We’ll price Flex-Tracks at $300 per pair for this volume order. They are bolted onto the shock plate, so the detail of the shock plate factors into what is involved in them. I got a question from Justin Armstrong and already asked him if he could get a camera shot from under his vehicle showing the bottom surface of a shock plate. We would be looking for a flat surface and if not flat, what features there are on the bottom part of the plate between the U-bolts.
I can tell how much the ride height of the vehicle will change from your info on the arch height of the springs. Reversing the eyes lowers the ride height.

Mark"

Ok so shipping per pair is $64.38 and springs $395.

Total = $459.38.

Can everyone please confirm if they are still interested.
