I always used the standard transmission mount, maybe with a few spacer washers to lower it off the floor. Hope this helps you out. The 1200, 120Y (B210) & Sunny(210)'s all use the same style rubber, but the widths of the metal crossmember are different. Maybe you could use the later 210 crossmember cut down & holes re-drilled for the 1200.

Thanks for the input B310GX! I'll try the stock 56A mount when I slip the powerplant/transmission back into the chassis and see where it goes from there.

Would be good if you post up some pics of how u install the gearbox/gearbox mount as i will be heading down the same route.

also what gearbox oil do use in your F5C56A?
and in your experience, how does it perform on tracks with long straights?

on the side note,the F5C56A did not come stock on datsun 1200 gx. Very few were fitted to gx5 models to very "special" customers by japanese dealers. The wide ratio F5W56A came as standard on japanese gx5 models.well thats acoording to tech wiki

A12Grunt...Thanks for the historical update! It sounds like Nissan had it's own "backdoor" support program going back in the day.
My particular F5C56A will be torn down momentarily to have cryo & REM treatment done on it's semi-precious internals before it sees any combat duty doing vintage racing here in the Western U.S.
Once it's back together, I plan on running Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-110 synthetic in it and the H145 LSD. (I'm an Amsoil dealer...)
I will take pix of the install as it comes along and share them with the Datsun1200.com family!

These F5C56A gearboxes came from either Nismo/Works japan or Datsun competition USA and were purely designed for racing with Close gear ratios. 1st 2.676 2nd 1.691 3rd 1.398 4th 1.181 5th 1.000 Rev 2.877

Apparently USA labelled the Japanese option 1 as option 2 in USA.Can't get the link but i read it on a thread on this forum.
The standard gx5 F5W56A has wide ratios.

Let the forum know how the Amsoil severe gear holds up.
and which clutch,clutch cover and flywheel do u use with ur box?
also what diff ratio are u running?
The lsd and that gearbox should compliment each other very well on the track.

Forum member PJZ sells spare brand new and also second hand parts for this boxes if anything was to break.His new spares are made from better quality materials too.This is one of the major reasons i bought my nismo close ratio F5C56A gearbox from Japan.Not worried about getting spares although i doubt my 1300cc will break it lol

I will be running a Tilton aluminium flywheel with a stock A15 clutch set. (thanx & a tip of the hat to PJZ for the vintage racer tip!)
I have 3.90, 4.10, 4.375, & 4.625 H145 ratios available. The 3.90 would be used on longer tracks, the 4.10 on shorter tracks and I reckon the 4.375 & 4.625 could be used if I had the urge to race against go-karts on a go-cart track.

il be running a tomei chromoly flywheel since car will be used once in a while on street.i wonder how car would drive/react on street with an aluminium flywheel.any other mods/tips uve done to lighten the drivetrain?

also do datsun competition parts usually come up for sale often in usa?
