Am interested to know if anyone is currently or has used fibreglass panels on their 1200 (not race cars).

I have been doing some research and found Alfa Motorsport Fiberglass makes quite a lot of panels for the 1200.

Anyone used these and know how good their fitment is?

I'm trying to work out if its worth getting on a street car, or should I just stick to some remanufactured items?

If anyone can share their experiences or suggestions and places to get good fitting aftermarket panels, would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting topic, I'm keen to hear the responses. Nice to have panels that don't easily dent and don't rust.

Unfam's probably right but ultimately will depend on the relevant ARDs for the time of production. (I have no idea what they are, standards online probably have them).

According to the NCOP (which doesn't apply to all states) 'glass replacement guards are allowed

wonder what weight saving you would get from front guards, bonnet, front apron. the Datsun panels are pretty light standard

doubt you would see much of a saving over repro guards. would say light weight glass ones would bend and crack easier than steel ones. be real cool, go carbon

Would be more worthwhile if you were trying to integrate flares into the guards or they were a different shape to standard ones

Yes datsun panels are pretty light standard and repro tend to be of thinner metal than the originals.

Anyone that has tried to roll/slight flare repro ones know how soft and flimsy they are.

Fiberglass at min is double the cost of repro ones - so does it last twice as long or weigh that much less to make it worth while?

Carbon, well, we all have dreams ;)

I'd be interested in a set of guards to the Y purely so I don't have to worry about rust and trying to panel beat a curve
