It is pretty funny, Ive always loved the F1s over the 57V but couldnt remember which one was which I dont have it catalogued in my memory there are more important things to remember I could just remember they where Rays and Jap.

thanks for the heads up in what to look out for copies of these now I have some ammunition for Strider the Malaysian suzuki parts businessman whos been dealing with these wheels and many other parts. I will point out he has a good record with 95% of customers and no problems with wheels he has sold.

I still like the supposedly fake F1s over the 57V originals, the flatter spokes with the inner ridges looks the goods. Now the Gti guys who ordered them seem to have no problems unlike the Rotas which are the opposite. Even now a rep for Rotas has stated the failure rate for rotas is 3-4 in 1000 wheels which is still not good enough.

I'm going to run some Flintstone rims on my 1200. Can't break 'em, might struggle with clearance though?

No question they are fake. Rays do not make a road wheel version of the Formula design. spikes14a gave you the link to Rays website where you can have a look for yourself if you don't believe it.

I'm mates with the QLD distributor for ROTA and he hasn't had a single failure the whole time he's been selling them... I wouldn't hesitate to buy a set for any of my cars. And I probably will get some for the 120Y track car after I've finished spending money on the bits I need to make it run again... It's hard not to like the RKR, Grid classic or Shakotans...

ROTAs are also good enough for a couple of other mates insanely fast WTAC cars:

http://www.worldtimeattack.com/index.php/open-class-hairy-lemon-evo-6/

Again no failures there despite years of abuse on race tracks with big G forces from very sticky tyres and downforce, plus heaps of kerb bashing, offs, etc.

Nothing wrong with ROTA quality for many years now.

No I believe they are fake just looked better than originals at the time and stuck in my mind they where the wheels to get since I saw them on RedlineGti not really paying attention at Rays before I did see the 57V at another stage but didnt see the difference till now hence saying thanks for the heads up. Now knowing they are fake I wouldnt trust them just like I wouldnt buy Rotas or anything with a poor history, just like I wouldnt buy a post 87s whoreden.

spending some time on mx5 forums it seems clearly the Rota Aleica seem to have no issues and have made me reconsider Rotas in 15 x 8 and 9 inch sizes as Ive always loved the original Sakura design just not in pink.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rota-Aleic ... ories&hash=item1e67989950

but there are also these Aleica version if they are not copies!? as they are R4000 rand for the set which is around 400aud.

My mate has sold 996 rotas without a single failure.
