Looking stout Harry. Interested in your thoughts in the Achilles after you have done a couple of events. Have run a set on the race car as wets after finding them squirmy in the dry. Thought the blocks were a bit chunky.

Thanks fellas. I reckon is looks pretty mean now. Problem is it looks faster than it is! lol

They don't come in 14s.

These Achillies have deep tread and the blocks aren't that wide, so not surprised to hear you describe them as squirmy to be honest. They're not a true semi slick and won't be anywhere near as fast, but they're half the price of semis as well. I've used Kumho KU36 which are the same type of thing on a JZA80 Supra several years ago and had heaps of fun punting that thing around on them. I can't wait to take it for a lap around Lakeside next year.

Are these track or road wheels only? Otherwise sleeper look is busted.
Guess 13/14s limited in tyre choice? cause these wheels make
her sit quite high and scream for bolt on flares. Nice colour choice.

These will be for both road and track, which is why I went with those tyres. I still have the $100 secondhand 6yo semis and hotwires which felt OK at Mt Cotton and will probably get used up first.
Not sure how much of a sleeper it was really going to be with the cage and front spoiler anyway.
195/50 R15 are the exact same height as the 205/60 R13 semis on the 13x7 hotwires. Wheelarchs are just on the tyre so it's not exactly high, but there's no apologies for the ride height which is all about making it work on the road and track. It's for go, not show. But yeah, hard to get anything new in 13". I was looking at USA made 13x8 aero steel wheels, but they're just as expensive as the alloys bought locally. There's a couple of 13x7 alloy options in the UK, but with -7 offsets (like the local superlites) which is too much.
It has pretty much the exact same tyre to gaurd clearance as the 13x7 +4 hotwires and 205/60s as well. No rubbing. Flares would need much wider wheels and rubber which limits your tyre choices. I guess you mean it needs flares to complete the look, but I love it this way. One of the advantages of the 120Y over the 1200 is the larger wheelarches and no need for flares. And from a performance perspective, the more you poke wheels out, the more frontal area you create and the more turbulence from the spinning wheels. Too much track isn't good either as I learnt about a dozen years ago on the old 1200.

That Portugese racecar is cool. I remember seeing a pic of that catching big air under 2 wheels bouncing off a kerb. He must have re-engineered quite a lot of that car to make it all work that low. On an unmodified chassis, the diff would just about be resting on the chassis at that height!
