I was reading Wallys supercharged a14 tech article and suddenly became very interested in building one for myself !
Straight down to SSS Automotive I went, it seems that the small supercharger 'Is' from a Subaru 660cc lunchbox. However it is a 'roots' type blower & not a centrifugal unit as Wally mentioned. Unpeturbed I bought one anyway,a bargain at $150. Thanks Wally!
And just as a matter of interest, E13 Nissan pistons are the same 76mm bore size as A14,same pin diameter 19mm & the same compression height 32.5mm,the only difference being a factory 'DISH-TOP'. I went the whole hog & got a SC14 from Rolin Imports. :) I figured a 2.0l blower is better than a 660cc one.

Also relating to using E15 pistons, how much of a hiding can our conrods take? Do the E15 rods fit too or are there any other stronger rods? Is it a non-issue anyway?

It should be large enough 2332,all I'll have to do is overdrive the blower! It displaces 300cc per revolution so if overdriven say 2.5 to 1 , it should displace 750cc per revolution and have approx. 8 pounds boost.
The only reason a 2.0L blower is better than a 660cc one , Ash , is you don`t have to spin it as fast! So your 2.0L blower should last longer than my little 660cc blower , but at $150 a throw , who gives a s*#t !

Actually, the 2l blower "should" give me cooler boost at the same boost level & hence more power. I figure 1400cc per rev should give 15psi at 1:1, so I'll probably underdrive it about 50% to start with. you are right though, for $150 who cares, and your's is easier to fit. I'll just have to push harder to fit it in the engine bay.

That`s got me thinking, I might run an intercooler now you mentioned it.
Seeing that i`m running a blow-through set-up(hence the 8 pounds boost) it should be a piece of cake! MMMM........maybe an old top-mount off a Toyota Starlet, bolted behind the grill, couple of neat holes in the radiator support............COOL!!!!!!!!!

What carb are you using to blow through?

My s/c 14 is running 1:1. It makes somewher over 11 psi. (I'm not dead sure as it backfired and now my brand new autoguage vac/boost guage shows 2inches of vacuum at rest)

The blower off the 660cc engine won't be great on an engine double its size. There's more to sizing a blower than "if its too small, I'll just spin it harder"!

It has to be able to operate over the same range of revs as your engine, and overspeeding it will cause excessive heat which will cost you power, while at the same time requiring extra power to drive it that fast. Don't expect it to have any top end...

you'd be much better off with one of the Toyota blowers
