Here is the start of the collection. I still need 2 x A12 inlet manifolds and 3 x standard distributors. If anyone wants a kit, maybe they can supply these parts.

The fuel rails will be made from the alloy blocks shown in the pics. They will be a little neater than using a brass "T".

Is anyone else interested in the idea of the built kits? I don't need any commitment yet. I'm just wanting to know if people are interested at this stage.

OK, A basic kit that has:

-Throttle body, modified to fit manifold and tapped to suit the air temp sensor, TPS and wiring plug.

-Inlet manifold, garnet blasted and opened up to fit the TB inc. adaptor plate. drilled for injector. brass fitting and FPR hose.

-Fuel rail, bracket, regulator and new $100 large injector

-Coil pack

-Modified distributor, new trigger wheel, excel sensor and ally cover and bolts. wiring plug.

-Turbo manifold, fully welded

-Turbo crossover pipe, Stainless steel

-Turbo hoses and clamps

$725. If I can get a few keen.
I could try to price a complete kit. But even this amount would be hard for some to find. I'm happy to do it in small stages and people could pay at each stage and I'll either send bits out or box them up to save postage.

You will still need the Microsquirt, wiring and sensors, Fuel pump and second line, turbo and associated plumbing and a post turbo exhaust made.

I could supply a completed loom and all sensors as well.

The same basic kit NA would be $395.(or $295 without the injector)

-Throttle body, modified to fit manifold and tapped to suit the air temp sensor, TPS and wiring plug.

-Inlet manifold, garnet blasted and opened up to fit the TB inc. adaptor plate. drilled for injector. brass fitting and FPR hose.

-Fuel rail, bracket, regulator and new $100 large injector

-Coil pack

-Modified distributor, new trigger wheel, excel sensor and ally cover and bolts. wiring plug.

Price sounds ok, what parts would you require from us? Just manifold and distributor?

Yeah, Just a bare manifold and points distributor. If people send the outer cable linkage off the standard carb, I can mount that too.

I do have a couple of manifolds and distributors I could send, but I would probably charge a deposit until I received the exchange units.

Another option to eliminate having to make a turbo manifold is to have a rear mounted turbo...
I know there is turbo lag with such a setup but with a small turbo and stock size exhaust which mine is, then just an intake the same diametre as the turbo back to the original air filter and you have a hidden injection turbo setup which I think is pretty cool...

Also stock exhaust header design wont hinder flow all that much and your harnessing more air from expansion in a longer exhuast...

Our cars arent that long either so turbo lag would be minimal but i thought i'd mention this as a possibility to save even more money and its probably one of the hardest bits to fabricate.

Please tell me if its a stupid suggestion before i do it!!!

:)

It could work ok. There is a couple of problems that you would have to work around. Expansion would be greatest while the gasses are hottest. That's why a performance exhaust can often be stepped down near the rear without a loss in performance. Turbos work best with a great expansion ratio across the turbine, generally you want small short runners before the turbine(keeping in heat and velocity) and a very large dump off the turbine.

Rear mounted, you would also need an electric oil scavenge pump to return the oil to the sump. The intake plumbing would take more time and cost more and a turbo flange would till have to be made. You would save a bit on the exhaust after the turbo though.
A ute would probably be the easiest of the 1200's to do this on with a bit more room under the back.

Still might be worth a go.. I'd love to see some results.

It could work better with a good set of headers a big cam and good inlet manifold. Probably a higher comp ratio as well. Like a good NA engine with a larger turbo mounted downstream. Things like ceramic coating the exhaust would also help to keep heat in pre turbo.

I've been out in the shed thinking about the turbo manifold... It is going to be nearly imposable to make 1 manifold that fits RHD,LHD, 1000 and 1200's. Something has to give or some will have to make their own. It may be possible but only if a totally new engine mount is made. I'll get back into the shed and report back soon....
