I am thinking about buying a 120y coupe that has an A14 blow through turbo in it. Completely stock otherwise including wheels, brakes, diff etc. I was just wondering if anyone has any idea what issues i might run into when getting it engineered in NSW? Never had to engineer a car before and dont want to bother if its going to be too much effort or $$$. Apparently it was engineered in SA. Any help or opinions would be great.
Thanks Trav

Ask the seller if it is certified in SA, and to provide the certification details. If it meets nationwide VSB6 or VSB14, according to the RMS website it can be certified in NSW. Quote: If your vehicle complies with the standards explained in Vehicle Standards Bulletin 6 or Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14, you can be confident that it complies with applicable vehicle standards, pending certification.

Once again dave you come to the rescue. Thanks.
I just went and checked it out and its not a bad little car. I just need to decide whether its gonna be worth the $ to get it on the road. I think i might just pull the turbo setup off and put a weber on it instead then i dont need to engineer it. Its got a leaky diff which im gonna have to fix or replace.
Actually dave do you know what diff is in a australian delivered 74 120y coupe? Is it h145, h150 or borgwarner? Cheers.

Also i have been reading through past threads dave and there are conflicting reports on what diff came stock in 74 120y, some even from yourself stating they were H150. Whats the easiest way to id my diff to find out? Is h150 bolt in like h165 or studs same as h145?
Thanks Trav

engineering a turbo conversion under NCOP requires a full emissions test. It will be all but impossible to pass that with a carby.
