Strictly a circuit racer, have wide choice of turbos. 2jz CT12b, garrett GT17, IHI RHF5, garrett Gt2052, TD05HR-16G6-10.5T(evo 6), garrett GT2554R...dont want it to be too laggy out of corners but still make decent top end power. Planned rev limit is 8500rpm.

head is an ex N/a racing 0val port.

thanks for your input.

red line 8500 ... so you'll be normally accelerating to 8000 rpm? With a high rev motor, to avoid delay in acceleration be using high-ratio final drive (example: 4.875) and a close-ratio gearbox

So with 1.3 liter, 8000 rpm you'll be making what? 120 bhp n/a, 160-180 bhp turbo'd (and less in rwhp)?

Just guessing here, but maybe the 2JZ turbo would be good spooling, although less max HP. It would boost mid-RPM torque, then the wastegate would come on before your redline

Large turbos, so to minimize Lag on the street they are fitted to large engines:
* IHI RHF5 - GTI Golf MK6, 200 HP
* garrett Gt2052, 225 hp
* TD05HR-16G6-10.5T(evo 6), 276 HP
* garrett GT2554R - up to 270 HP

small
* 2jz CT12b: 3-liter, twin turbo 276 hp
* garrett GT17 - 130hp?

OK it's a thread hijack but can you tell us more about the rocket box? Maybe even some picks of the bellhousing. Curious to see if it uses A12 auto bell housing etc.

I am also assuming that you are H190 diff.

Tom

In America, Cressida came with six-cylinder engines. R21/R22 came in our Hilux and Celica. The RWD Celica was once very common here, but is now rare

Even so the W55/W57/W58 gearbox can be found here, for example up to 2005 in the USA Lexus IS300. An adapter plate to run behind A-series engines can be fabricated

4:8 is from vanette (h165) all our H190 are 5:1 locally.

Cressida boxes are like gold dust on this island...literally only a handful around..

rocket box was leftovers from my mk1 escort days..basically its a 2l 4speed box with gearkit. similar to merkur 2.3 turbo but small bearings. bellhousing is standard 53 cut to correct lenght, with plate welded and bearing and bolt housing done on mill..
will take pics when lift out the engine.
