Hello squad.

So I bought a 1600 that needs alot of TLC.

I fixed the rear brakes shoes, replaced almost 70% of all brake lines, fitted a Mad dat booster & brake master, got cutom brake lines made up for the new master....all that is left is my front brakes setup.

My good friend has been helping me with info and has helped me so much but

I am having trouble sourcing "Toyota hilux/4Runner/Surf calipers Years 79-90"
I am aware that they need to have "S12+8" on the casting/engraved.

Does anyone know exactly what model has these calipers?
or year?
because been to pick & payless and multiple wreckers and they only have s13w or s13wb or s13wbr

Any help appreciated

Anth

Sumitomo S12 calipers can be found on a few cars. Hilux had many options, different engines, diff, brakes, etc. So exactly which Hilux 1979-1990 used them?

Sumitomo S13 for 22mm brake rotors
Sumitomo S12 for 20mm brake rotors

rebuilt S12 are currently $28 + $44 core ($72 each) at Rockauto.com. See Hilux Caliper

The downside is they are very heavy. Aside from budget there are much better 4-piston calipers

I did some brief research:
* 4WD Hilux 1979-1990
* 4WD Pickup 1986-1988 (USA)
* Landcruiser 60-series 1976-1990
So in USA, only a couple of years ... I got the idea they were more common in AUS

Depending where you are on the planet will help to determine which vehicle or supplier to go to

Yes DD they are heavy but are a easier 4 spot conversion that will fit under 13 inch wheels .
Is there a direct swap to something like a wilwood caliper that would be much lighter ??

Triple-advantage of the S12+8
* inexpensive
* direct fit to *some* Datsun-Nissan struts e.g. A10/810 , but I don't think they bolt to the 510/1600 struts which are wider bolt spacing?
* 4-piston

They'll all fit under 13" wheels, that depends on the rotor size more than anything

For the same later Datsun struts a higher performance choice is either Nissan_4-piston Calipers or RX-7 4-piston Calipers using a adapter bracket
