Well DD I am trying to sell this 63a I have. No one seems interested. There is a 510 owner looking for a 5 speed which is where I was going with all this. Maybe he can benefit from the gearbox. Don't know if there is an advantage of using a 63 over 71. Probably not. Yes 71 is easier to find here in the US so he may just go that route unless he needs a dogleg 5-speed which will require this modification...

Denuto advised that the L and A series input shaft is interchangable to solve that problem. Do you not agree?

@TexasMidget
Unfortunately you're in the wrong country. Your 63A box is worth good money in Australia.
The guy who wants to acquire a 63A box for his 510 is in the wrong country. 63A box for an L Series are dirt cheap here.
Anyone in Australia who would like to acquire a 63A box to put behind their A Series engine is in the wrong country. I reckon you would have to pay A$1200+ to get one.
And anyone who's thinking of shipping a front casing from US to Australia or from Australia to the US is about 12 years too late to get access to reasonable postage charges or surface postage rates. (sigh)

Yeah shipping to Australia is insane. Was quoted about $1000 to get this shipped over there.

Looked at TechWiki under Parts for 63a and it showed part numbers for A & L input shafts on top of each other:

32200-N6700 GEAR ASSY-MAIN DRIVE A14
32200-21100 GEAR ASSY-MAIN DRIVE L16S

Which tells me they are interchangeable. Have you done this swap of parts before?

No I haven't done the swap. I have a 63A box for an A Series already. I bought it online for US$35 in Cincinnati OH and I had a friend ship it to Australia, probably 12 or 14 years ago. The freight cost me $250 back then!

I don't have a soltion to your dilemna other than to suggest that you use the 63A yourself. They have slightly better ratios than a 60 series box and they're much more robust. Plus I like the dogleg shift - mostly because it's different

Ive got the 63series behind my A15 turbo.
Love the 2nd to 3rd gear shift of a dogleg
Yes - Its worth money here in OZ
Seems like sacrilege to mod it.
Would love a spare
