I dont have any heat coming out of my heater vents just cold air the fan turns on and the car will be at normal running temp but no heat what could be causing this. I just had a New head gasket put on, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, thermostat, and many other items as of 3/11/05. I dont know if any of that might affect it but I thought I would give that tid bit of info. Any help is greatly appreciated

Look under dash.
1. Do you have heater hoses going into the cabin from the engine bay?
2. When you move the temp control from hot to cold, while looking under the dash, do you see the heater tap open and close?

Potential problems:
- the heater tap is broken
- there are no hoses to the heater element
- the element has been bypassed with a piece of hose
- the engine block is choked up with rusty crap.

It may become necessary to remove the heater hose where it joins to the block at the front of the engine. With the radiator cap removed, take a gently, repeat,... GENTLY running hose, & with the control set at the highest heat setting, direct some flow into this hose.

DO NOT pressurise the heater. If the heater tap is open & the core is not blocked, you will get a reverse flow of water through the heater. If there is no flow then it's time to do some serious checking.
Does the hot water valve open & close when you work the control. This is not a flapper plate,.. that just controls air flow.
If this valve works properly, then it's possible that the heater core is blocked. This is simply a mimiature radiator core & any radiator shop can fix it.

Check the heaters water control first as the control cable sometimes becomes uncliped where it is secured at the valve end.

Good luck.

your tap could be blocked and the heater element itself might be full of ####.
Your heater hose could be totally blocked as well.

Slightly off the topic but!!

We have two 1200s: one 84 ute and a 70 sedan, both have leaking heater taps.

Any other solution or is it back to Nissan for an expensive replacement??

Thought going to the wreckers would only get another leaky tap, not worth the trouble.

i think the answer isn't the heater core, but something even simpler.with the b310,the wire controlling the flap that directs air to the windscreen sometimes comes off,so no demist.on right hand drive cars,
it's between the heater body & the fan body, right up against the fire wall.tracing the cable from the controls to the flap would be the
easiest way to find out if its still on.there must be a little clip there when new,but over the years this must break.i've had 2 sunny's which did this,so i got quite familiar with the problem.

Are you talking about the control that you slide that decides what vent the air comes out of if so that works. It will blow air out of the vent I choose but it's not hot it's cold. For some reason my fan will only work on the 3 it wont blow any air on the 1 or 2 setting this just started happening :( Thanks for the help guys

undo the hoses near the control valve and have a look inside. If there is any sign of brown or green crap, your core or control valve or hoses or all mentioned are blocked.
I know cos this happened in my car. The amount of crap I pulled out of the core was amazing.

oh well,i've got that wrong, but i do know the
problem with the 1st & 2nd speeds on the fan.the fan speed is controlled by a resistor wire, with the power going in at various points on the wire for voltage drop, like the resistor on the coil.there's a plastic nut & bolt that connects the resistor wire to the motor,& it eventually breaks.this breaks the circuit on the
2 lower speeds, but not the 3rd as it bypasses the resistor.where the power wires go into the heater body, theres a small panel which can be levered out with a small flat-bladed screwdriver.
just replace the nut & bolt & the lower speeds should start working again.i've had to do this with 3 b310's,always the same problem.
