I'm about to look like a real idiot here but what exactly is a 'short shifter'? Is it just a short gear stick or does it shorten the travel that you physically have to move the gear stick to change gears?

Doesn't look like the fulcrum point has been modified at all. Just the overall length of the stick has been shortened.

Yeah..technically a short-shifter changes the fulcrum point.

Normally raises the pivot point, and shortens the stick.

I have a homemade stainless "short-shifter" in my ca18 gearbox.. It's awesome.

I'll cut down anyone in sydney's shifter and put a new thread on it for $40.

I felt slack for posting my BS earlier.. You blokes are obviously up for a bit of a slanging match with our buddy 4nik8.

I don't think it's worth $50, but it's not my sale. The shift knob might be worth $40...

Chris

is it harmless? Sticks and stones Ange, sticks and stones...... its all a laugh till either that hacksaw blade slips and cuts off your finger or the sparks from the angle grinder blind you while trying to cut down that shifter....

haha, well you guys sure know how to help someone with a sale.
now, it doesnt really bother me if it sells or not, its not like it takes up alot of room. im just trying to help out some other datsun enthusiast enjoy there ride more with a much more comfortable shift. i wish it fit in my rotary box, cause i really miss that gear stick :(

anyway, $50 isnt alot of money. buy it, give it a go and i think anyone would be more than happy with it.

oh and this aint no dodgey 'diy' cut shifter like the rest of you are offering. This shifter was proffessionly fabricated and with a thread.
