Cheap, reliable , light, fun to drive (thrash), hard to kill, easy to fix. easy to get parts for. Also they have a kick ass website where you can learn virtually anything you want to know about em (right here!).

God damn sexy, somewhat unique, look good in many different colors, small, easy conversions, and fairly easy to fix and maintain by ones own self, when your driving a datto and you see another datto driver you wave out or go and have a chat with them, theyre 9 times out of ten extremely good cunts, when you tell people you have a 1200 they love it immidiately and somewhat respect you, they come out in god damned awesome shapes, Sedan, A ####ING AWESOME WAGON and coupe and ute and then theres the attachment to the big brother 1600 which are also pretty neat. ####ing fantastic. did i mention datto hoes?

Like most have said.....they are just easy!!! Also for me its the very 1st car I owned, learnt how to fix, learnt how to drive in. Here in NZ they have a rally/race history and most poeple know them, and remeber seeing them rallied or raced.

Also they just turn peoples heads when you drive past!!!

i'll put it this way i LOVE my datsun because it doesn't matter what you do to it, it will always be there for you thrash it forget an oil change (heaven forbid) do it up in 80's style and keep photos . it doesn't matter they are sexy quick easy to fix do up. and are more fun than 3 hot up for anything birds with a whole lot of whipped cream and your locked in a house with them

datto = fun

My reason? Old skool looks, Less weight then most newer model cars, and just drop in a new tech motor and the power to weight is earth twisting!

I forgot this other thing..

lightweight and rear wheel drive = fun

Good engine , economic , simple mecanic .
Good steering sistem .
And beats almoust modern cars with small engines , in acceleration .

ok i know this is a 1200 site but...... when i was a kid we had a brand spanking new 180b SSS & so i can blame my parents for my datsun fetish. the technology nissan had compared with the other manufacturers was far superior. anyone remember when GMH started boasting about their IRS? 1992 i think it was. and as for five speed transmissions, OHC,disc brakes, etc, well, need i say any more?

One of the perks of owning a DATSUN is the historical value of its "retired" name, sorta like Packard or Hudson, except that DATSUN may be the sole Japanese example. Sure, DATSUN turned into Nissan, and DATSUN trucks are still sold in parts of the world, but doesn't detract from the heritage.

When most people find out I own DATSUNs, it's usually unecessary for me to tell them the model. They'll just be like "Wow! Cool! It's been a long time since I've seen one of those.

(This won't work if you're talking about a Toyota or Mazda.)
