On the CA there are 4 vacume lines which come out between the inlet manifold on the drivers side of the motor. They go to a canister and some one way valves.

What exactly is this canister used for on the s13?

I thought it was for the climate control, being a vacume resovoir to assist in the switching of the solenoids required for electronic climate control systems. Is this correct?

I ask as I came to the above conclusion and removed it from the CA conversion process, halfway through. But I have noticed in a few pix I have seen this device remains.

So what exactly does it do and is it needed?

The canister is a vaccuum reservoir.

When the car is under boost, it still needs vaccuum to operate the powervalve. The one way valves ensure the canister keeps the vaccuum inside. A strange concept to fathom, indeed!

The power valve opens and closes half of the runners in the intake plenum, to maintain intake air speed, to ensure a better fill of the cylinders with petrol and air under 4000rpms

It really should be connected, unless the valve butterflies are removed.

So based on what dattodude said.

I better re-install it or the factory computer will chuck a sad and it will run crap.

Glad I asked. Has saved a major trouble shooting headache latter.

Could some body possibly elaborate on this for me. So I can get a better understanding of whats happening.

"The power valve opens and closes half of the runners in the intake plenum, to maintain intake air speed, to ensure a better fill of the cylinders with petrol and air under 4000rpms

It really should be connected, unless the valve butterflies are removed"

Also - going to this cannister were a grey and brown wires. Shen I studied the circuit I traced them back into the climate control circuit.

Maybe I was incorrect with my trace. Where or what do these wires input to?

Are these 2 wires needed for this device to function correctly?

Spent a good hour researching this on the net. From what I understand is one of the wires is the solenoid grond, which is switched from pin 8 on the ecu.

And the other in 12 power.

Could someone confirm this???

And which colour is which???
