well i done some damage to my engine this arvo i put a 350 holley on it and it was running heaps better took it for a drive all of a sudden it died in power then stoped. Parked it in the shed got it started and No. 2 cyl wasnt firing and smoke was coming out of tappet cover breather ive put it down to melted piston broken rings or a head gasket. doesnt seam to be running lean and it only running 3-4 psi
can any one help with a daiganosis before i go tearing it down

Wet and Dry comp test should give you an idea if it is a piston or excessive carbon deposits on the valve, blown head gasket etc. First comp test dry. Second test put a few squirts of oil in the affected cyl with an oil can. If comp raises with the wet test then it is a bottom end (ring) problem.

Isn't a 350 holley a little bit of overkill on an A12 ? Just curious...

What did you see that makes you think that the head is a "high comp one"
To be honest, it looks completely standard to me.
