Anyone here have good experience with Mega Squirt ECU? I am thinking that is what I want to use to run my SR20 but many people that I have talked to clutch their chest and tip over when I mention Mega Squirt. It looks to me like it should work fine but I guess that I am looking for the opinion of someone who is using one.

I personally would not use megasquirt for an sr20. Megasquirt is more suited to the older injection systems like the l series which do not have much tuning scope in the first place.
For the sr20 you would be much better off with a apexi power fc which is a plug and play unit. There are many more ecu's which will run the sr20 far better than megasquirt

A megasquirt has just as much (if not more) resolution than a power fc. The only reason people use power fc's is because they are plug and play so no installation costs and simple. They aren't actually that great an ecu.

there are megasquirt forums, i can't remember what it's called but do a search, you'll find people running all sorts of high tech motor configurations with them.

You can run sequential with the Megasquirt 2 or newer. You just have to have both a crank and cam angle sensor for it to work.
Megasquirts are a very underrated ECU.

Thanks for the input. I'll share any results when I get the thing going.

A chipped standard computer will give you approximately 347 less grey hairs.

Unless you are in the injection business.. it makes no sense to learn how they work.

ps. it's friday night and I've had some beers..but I still think I'm right.

So many of these low budget systems are a false economy unless you are willing to do a PhD in megasquirt to make it work.

I know a lot of people who have had good results with chipped standard ecu's. They only really become a problem when you want to rev over 8k as because of the resolution the mapping wont go higher than 8k. There is also obviously limitations if you want to change from AFM to MAP (i.e it can't) but most other things can be dealt with no problems. you'll also save a bundle in tuning because you won't have to start from scratch.
I have a few mates with sr20ve's that use the bikirom stuff and are very happy with it.

Edit: sorry i'm not sure if I made myself entirely clear when I say chipped i mean chipped so that they a tunable with a Eprom reader/writer. Bikirom does some jiggery pokery inside the ECU (i.e some technical whizz bang electronic stuff) that makes it completely customizable, bikirom is australian, The USA equilivant is calumsoft
