I agree, but one must remember you are not always paying for actual part/material prices. Often suppliers will build in a markup for R&D done on many items...

IE.
Customer one:
Buys $3000au coil overs from maddat, bolts them in and gets brilliant results within a few minutes

Customer two:
Spends $950 slapping a kit together, then works out the problems, tries to fix it, cost him another $200-300, then the locks arnt right and causes damage and another few $$$ and so on till he eventualy 8 months down the line gets it right costing him not much less than what maddat charges for known good performance items where the R&D has been put in.

Just a total theoretical to understand why people somtimes do charge more than most understand, they put their time into building and selling a good quality product that its tried and tested, you can not expect them to not get anything out of it.

My last trip to the parts shop for regular replacment struts and a set of brake pads and shoes is more than what my sedan is insurable for.

Unfortunaly one of the bad parts of moding a car with next to no retail and insurable value...

yeah his gear is pricey, but i dont think you should flame him for busting his balls. being a fabricator myself, its not had for me to work out how and where all the money goes into these products!!

good on ya for doing it your self, but theres no need to rag on companies that produce qaulity products, no matter what they charge!!

It's like saying Ferraris are overprice "who in his right mind would pay that when they could get a brand new GM for a fraction of the price"

I'd say it's money well spent!! just the other day on here there was a thread about one of the perth boy having some issue with a sway bar popping out or some thing, it was one of maddats parts. anyway scott form maddat got on and asked about it and in the end said he'd send over some new parts to sort it out. i'd say that's great service and service with a smile at that. and yeah it is an open tread so speak your mind and everyone has the right to
