I'm looking at getting an engine freighted from Asia to here in Adelaide.

Can anyone offer any advice on where to begin?

Especially anything to do with import costs etc. Engine is tired/rough and holds relatively little value as it is a non-functioning 4cyl import in poor condition (would I be better importing it as 'Automotive spare parts' or as an engine?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Haha! Yeah good one!

And then we can all sit back and have a laugh at how much money and resources the Aussie government will throw at it to figure out;

What the #OOPS# it is.

How the #OOPS# it got here.

Where the #OOPS# it came from.

And what the #OOPS# it’s doing here.

Haha! HAHA!...Ha......wait.....who's money is the government spending?

Haven't shipped an engine but have done a kitchen!

There should be no duty etc as long as the TOTAL cost is less than $1000AUD. Total is important as it means purchase cost, shipping costs, insurance etc all together.

Otherwise make sure it is clean, no oil, dirt etc. Also make sure that if it is on any sort of wooden packaging, that it is treated etc so that it doesn't get caught in quarantine.

But the Govt already know the answers to all of those questions!

They just don't know what the #OOPS# they are going to do about it!

Yeah, yeah I was being sarcastic.

Thanks for the feedback on importing the stuff, should have a new (old) motor in a few months.

I'm interested to know more about this if you don't mind sharing. Importing an A series? From South East Asia? Keen to know how you go with it!

I'd rather import a "cough" tired LZ from one of those Asia Pacific racers who shouldn't have them.

mmm, tired.
