Hi,
I got a bad time this month. My A15 con rod bearing and pistons jammed. Might be worth an engine if I want to rebuild it. Thinking to swap the motor with either a rotor or 1.8NA.

The 13BT is 500$ and CA18 is 800$. I am not worried about the installation cost. Just curious about the reliability and the process.
which one easier, more power, and spare parts..

Any idea or advice would be a cure for me. So sad to look my 1200 just sitting can't roll..
thanks..

Having done the 13bt in mine I would think the ca would be easier.but the rotor will make more power but obviously you can't compare a turbo to an na motor.spare parts should be easy for both.if its an everyday car I'd go ca for reliability

L18 turbo, old school reliable and with megasquirt 320hp atw is possible with stock v91 head, cheaper for parts, no pollution gear if you use early 1600 block, rods and pistons can take a pounding easy 450hp wont be a problem if well tuned and fit piston oil squirters and L28det oil pump. They are tough as nails.

13b prices are through the roof for rebuids thanks to mazda more than tripling their prices.

If its just out of those two motors then I think you should keep it in the family and go the CA.

Thanks for the ideas guys. For the short term, I just want to run them stock.

Actually I feel more to rebuild the A15, but the costs is killing me. Those 2 options might be a short time for daily use until I raise fund for the rebuild.

Yeah, only those 2 motors (complete running) come around at fair price. If I found any A15 in the price range, at the moment, I'll go for it.

If your talking budget style you far better off staying a series as you when u get started with either ca or 13b you'll end up spending heaps more than a rebuild on a a15 ect
