ok guys, i ended up having to sell my coupe, i had to choose the girl friend or my datmobile, good news if you want to sell one in new zealand, i had my phone number on the back publicly
for less than 24 hours and i got 4 serious phone calls, and a couple of pullers who i wouldnt have sold it to anyways, its kinda trippy parting with something that you have put so much work
into, cared about so much and enjoyed so many missions with, its more than a car, it was a friend, always there gleaming a smiley chrome bumper at me when i was down, sure the exhaust was
loud, sure the extractors heated up the passenger floor, and sure, the cabin was always cold in winter and extra hot in the summer, but i loved that car, man, the dude thats got it is gonna
care for it sweet as though. oh yeah, ive got a Nissan Primera now, its sweet, but is not a 1200... straight up i think i will look for another one. lifes crazy. hey you guys seen "gone in
60 seconds"? choice movie eh.
choice from chris.

Yeah I agree. Maybe all Datsun owners aren't the
same, but unless the car is rusty and it is taking up
all of your spare time to the detriment of everything
else, you shouldn't sell your datto. I know loads of
Datsun owners who have regretted selling their car. It
leads to a period of mourning, followed by regret that
makes your soul rot for the rest of your
life..bwahahaa.
I've got a SR20-Pulsar/Almera, and I reckon it's one
of the most boring cars I've ever driven.
It's
the driving force behind me getting the new 1200
going, with fresh CA18DET power, I'll get back my
identity...the individuality that makes having a datto cool. No
more stopping at lights and having exactly the same
car pull up next to you..that's seriously uncool.
Also it's the people that are into Datsuns that also
makes it all worth it.

My 2 cents
worth.
Chris

yeah dont rub it in guys, seriously, though im driving 200 klicks each way most weekends to see her and in the end it is easier on the body to do it in a car that rides better, sure,
straight up datto handled good, but not as good as a newer car, its just one of those things, although top speed in the datto was more :) the primera is limited to 180... yeah life
is crazy though.

..Yeah I know. Life is full of tough decisions, and not everyone has the space or funds for 2 cars. Every Summer for the past 7 years, when all I had was my 1200, I would have killed for
a new car with A/C. I was tired of turning up to work/formal events dripping in sweat from the heat. That's why I have my Pulsar now. I also bought the Pulsar so I can do a proper 1200
rebuild :). I hope you don't become one of those 'old-man' kinda drivers..Remember your Datsun origins!

As you always say ..choice! (not that I understand why you say it)
Chris.

dont worry man, i feel your pain... when i sold my old hilux 4x4 to a mate, i almost cried, and i still miss it..(sniff snuff) but having a modified 4x4 (or datsun) as an
apprentice is hard work on the wallet..so i keep telling myself that oneday i will get another one, and i will.
So chris, just put the 1200 thing on hold, dont give it up - think of the rocker cover development that would be lost to the world...
u still gonna send me some of those pics of your ex coupe?

cheers, Linc.
choice eh bro!

I spent three years without a 1200 and was bewildered at what to drive. When I got the chance to get another one, I jumped at it. There is no other car made for the money that handles
as well, runs as well, gets the economy, and is so maintaince free as the 1200. It is mother natures most perfect little HOT ROD for the average person. FWD and 4WD's are just not with
it. Long drive the Datsuns.

Mareo, I couldn't agree with you more. I've always had at least one 1200 in the fleet for the past 29 years. I've driven cars that were faster, more luxurious, rode better and
all that but the 1200 is just plain fun to drive. Just like the old 1200 ads used to say, the 1200s are something special.
