Clutch Cover

Be sure to get a Datsun 1200-spec cover for easy clutch operation. Aftermarket clutches may be much heavier duty, requiring increased pedal effort and possibly premature wear of the clutch cable.

Discussion: Clutch Problems

For A-series engines, there are two lengths. One is 4.5 mm longer.

For use with A12 Flywheel on A14 engine, use the longer Sleeve:

Or just use the A14/A15 flywheel. People like the A12 flywheel because it is lighter, but you can lighten the A14 type.

  • Cable clutch: as follows

<Hey you Aussies, help by expanding this! How exactly do you adjust a Datsun 1200 cable clutch?>

On transmission: 3-4 mm play. Inside: pad height (139.5-143.5 mm from floor). Then check pedal free play -- it must have free play to avoid burning out the clutch -- check with fingertips). Pedal play is 11-15mm

Details are in the Datsun 1200 Factory Service Manual or any Repair manual (Gregory's, etc).
