Datsun 1200 was equipped with a round-port inlet manifold. USA got one with accessories fitings, while Japan, Canada and other countries got a plain intake manifold. For other A-series engines, manifolds differ by country and year.

The "yoke" is a special washer with non-parallel faces. It is a smaller version of the Crank Pulley washer.
Yoke Washers are only used on the bottom row of studs

Datsun 1200
Datsun 1200 was equpped with a round-port, dry, original bolt-pattern, inlet manifold. It looks like the Datsun 1000 manifold but it slanted 2 degrees different.
Plain type: only fittings are for PCV and one vacuum port (seen here with a plug)
Intake and exhaust manifold are bolted together (with Heat Riser in between)
A12 GX Engine
1200 GX models use a twin-carburetor intake manifold.
Datsun 1200 SSS
Datsun 1200 SSS was fitted with a New-Zealand built manifold and twin Dellorto carburetors.
Will not suit an A14 or A15 as those engines have oval inlet ports. These suit SSS motors with round inlet ports.
The inlet manifolds were Kiwi cast by Dennis Marwood to get them to match the head ports it is necessary to drill the mounting holes oversize to lift the manifold upwards to locate it better.
As of 2002, Autoquip Marketing in Auckland was still selling the manifolds.
Fitment with Exhaust Manifold
A12 intake and exhaust manifolds are a matched set -- they bolt together.
Fitment With Extractors
When using a tubular exhaust header (extractors) you can unbolt the intake from the exhaust manifold. Then fit shorter bolts to hold the Heat Riser block-off plate on. The A12 intake manifold comes with a block-off plate standard. This will fit over at least some big-tube header/extractors.
USA
Most USA manifolds came with extra fittings, while Japan, Canada and other countries got a plain manifold.

Manifold Selection
When selecting an intake manifold for your A-series engine, keep these fitment factors in mind:
* Port shape (round, regular oval, large oval) * Bolt Pattern (new style vs old style) * Water Ports for dry head vs wet head * Attached exhaust manifold vs non-attached
Port Shape
All Datsun 1200 came with round port cylinder head (except: Datsun 1200 GX, which came with Large Oval ports). Most A14/A15 came with regular-size oval ports. Other A-series engines came with small oval port heads.
Oval Port Comparo (Extra Large, Regular, Water Port, Small Oval)
Bolt Pattern
New bolt-pattern VS original (B110) bolt-pattern. The new pattern started with the A13/A14 engine, but eventually all the A12s converted to the new style.

Non-attaching exhaust manifold
If fitting a detached Exhaust Manifold, the bottom of the intake will hit the exhaust manifold. In this case you can either 1) source a different, more compatible intake or 2) grind the bottom for clearance and weld the opening shut.

Steel manifold is difficult to make. You need to form steel to ovals to round to tapered out. When used with a turbocharger, Steel won't break and would be ported to your cylinder head.
