Overview
RHD and LHD 1200s use the same lighting switch (except Australia). However the wiring harness differs and thus the operation differs.
North America - in middle position, headlights are OFF
Japan - in middle position, Dimmer switch turns headlights on/off
Removal

LIGHTING SWITCH
Removal
(1) Remove connector from back of the lighting switch.
(2) Depressing the lighting switch knob, turn it counterclockwise, and remove it.
(3) Loose the escutcheon, and remove the lighting switch from the cluster lid.
Wiring
Electrically, the lighting switch connects to:
- Headlamps
- Front Combination Lamp (indicator lamps + parking lamps)
- Rear Combinations Lamp (indicator lamps + parking lamps)
- Turn signal switch
- Flasher unit
- Side indicator lamps

Australia
Light Switch for Australia is unique in that it has a two-position twist-knob. Rotate it for normal or dim dash lights. So it has a extra wire on the switch (seven wires total).
