hey fellas, just been reading one of the latest Hot4's and noticed that almost every car has a 23 inch monster tacho, with shift light yet almost every car has on factory that you can see
in the photo, i have been wondering for a while if it is that neccesary for there to be two, plus the shift light, that must be for when they have their 17, 44 inch subs in their swift
firing as loud as they can go. could anyone with any knowledge in this confusing behavior please explain it too me
cheers numbnuts

These guys are complete idiots?
They will argue that their cars go so fast, and their sound systems are so loud, that they need a big tacho, so they have to think less about what revs they are doing? Who knows...I'm
sure it's something to do with the inversely proportional relationship of brain size vs. parents chequebook thickness. It could also have something to do with Fanta...but only NZ-Chris
could answer that has he has a PhD in Fanta Engineering.

the tacho epidemic is spreading, i have a 4inch cheapie as i cant get the coupe one to work in my ute. as for the relationship between big tachs, big subs and big rims, its
like the chicks in melbourne say, they lack what they need downstairs to attract what they want.
Mountain dew kicks ass on fanta injection, must be that mountain water as it creates a finer mist on the injection path (or caby mixer).
Long live Mountain Dew.
I also use canola lubrication too.

What kind of engine are you running in your ute, I can suggest wiring mods to make it work, if it's not broken. I know how the 1200 tach works on A12,14,15
and on CA18DET, SR20DET.

The tach should work on the L18 because it works off of the ignition
coil.

Most of you have heard about the cowardly terrorist destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City, today. It is a shame that there are people in this delicate
world that have nothing better to do but think of ways to kill other humans. Life is precious. If you can't see that, kill yourself but leave others alone.

It's all about how the tacho connects to the coil. Normal tachos have a single wire that goes to the coil or engine management computer 'tacho-out' signal.

The 1200 Tacho is more of a 'inline' kind of arrangement with its 2 wires. For my CA18, I put it inline with the main positive (RED) wire to the coils. The coils are
ground-switched from the transistor pack. So you would also need to wire up the 1200 tacho inline with the positive feed to the distributor. See my site:
http://www.shoeys.com/diag/dat110_1.jpg
It shows it being inline to the positive side of the coil. Although it's unclear if there is a tacho bypass wire in place in the event of a failure internal to the tacho.

You are right. It's no wonder I spend so much time in my garage working on Datsuns...the world isn't a very nice place.

I'm absolutely stunned by the madness and cruelty some people in the world possess. I have mixed feelings of anger and sadness for the people who's lives were going just fine
until today. Spend a moment to reflect upon the tragedy.
