yes. seriously throw out the A12 and buy a A14 or A15. the money spent getting the 1200cc mtr to get the same power as a 1400 will cost u more than buying a A14 or A15mtr. then maybe just extractors and carby and manifold replacment such as a webber or small holley.

read the tech section an search first. It really depends how much power you want long term an how much money you want to spend long term.

Try Headers, or a better ignition. , you can find a lot of information at the tech section, you can also download the competition suspension manual and the Datsun competition parts manual, they can give you a lot of ideas to modify your 1200, good luck.

Rig up your carby to make the secondary throat come on mechanically, so it cuts in earlier.

Get some extractors and a bigger exhaust.

my 1200 sedan was a stock as a rock A12 and 4spd manual with TRX 15in rims, stanza brakes / girlock calipers up front and 240Z finned drums out back.

the only 2 mods i did was rig up the secondaries to pump with the primaries with a bit of coathanger wire and make a cold airfeed.

i used to pass modded excels coming into CAT corner at barbagallo and used to take corners valve bouncing in third.

you don't need to do much to an A series to get them to get up and boogie.

Bolt on a weber 32/36 carby found off Escorts and 4cyl cortina's, a bigger exhaust system right through, including extractors and maybe some head work like a port'n'polish, shaved head and bigger valves.
Also improving your spark through your iginiton system is also a great way of gaining some more power.
