getting a reverse gear isn't impossible,just
expensive.british kit car makers are using bike
engines as an option,so a company those name
i can't remember made a reverse which bolts into the driveline.gets you six speeds in reverse,
too.

Hi Vixen, I hope youre right with the price on that V8, cause if its 10k thats a total bargain. When I last checked it it was close to 30-35k!!!
Also I think for CAMS approval the legend racers just had a reverse polarised DC starter motor to achieve reverse. Pretty stupid really as most open wheelers dont have reverse.

$10,000 is awesome for a 372hp engine that revs to 10,000rpm and weighs 95kgs.
And they would only be a 2 litre?????
Great for getting registered in a small car!!!

I think they would be a 2.6 litre because hayabusa engines are 1300cc and it uses two. This thread needs to stop... its giving me too many ideas!

I have been told that a cheap & easy way to get reverse is to rig up a starter motor in such a way that you get an electric reverse. Does anyone know any more.

The article says that the motors come in 2 litre,2.6 litre and 3.0 litre. They make a close ratio box with a revers gear.

On Radical brand sports racers , they drive a set of gears to the rear axle and in there is an electric reverse. I'll have to ask a buddy exactly how it engages , he works at a driving school where they run Radical cars. If you turn the engine side ways to it's normal bike postion and mount a drive shaft to the countershaft sproket you could mount a gear wear the sprocket was and engage the starter for reverse.
It would be as simple as selecting neutral in the Hayabusa gearbox then pressing a reverse button , which would engage a starter motor and rotate the driveshaft. If you used a normal car battery and say a ford truck starter this should have plenty of umph.

Hmmmm..... imagine the hayabusa v8, mid mounted in a KB10, like dattoman_1000, a close ratio 5spd box behind it. 360hp in a 600hp car. Perfect KB10 handeling, with perfect weight balance. What would be quicker than it?
