If you wait until L18_B110 comes online you can ask him because he has a motorsport history on tarmac in QLD and I'm sure he could tell you exactly what class the SR20de runs in. From there it is just a matter of getting in touch through the right motorsport club. You can find out what combinations works best in there catagory of racing. That way, if you want to build a good screamer, you eliminate some of the development costs - good starting point.

BUNDY351 - It's in one of my Zoom magazines. I will have a look when I get home this afternoon and post up the details. I might even just scan the article in.

the Stanza sport sedan you're referring to is Steve Newings. There's plenty of references to him in threads on this site, so if you search on that you might find some more info.

He sold the car a couple of years and kept the engine. They got abit over 240bhp out of it IIRC. But expect an engine like that to cost well over $12K in parts and development work. You could easily get that power for a fraction of the price from a CA18 turbo.

Even a mildly worked street engine will not be cheap. If you were building it for U2L class of racing I'd say go for it, but as a street engine CA18 turbo is a much better value proposition

I'm sorry Bundy, I've looked everywhere but I can't find the magazine article.

I'll look forward to it mate. They are a very underated motor in aspirated form. If I ever get the opportunity, and budget, to start another Datsun project I will be fitting a high compression, cammed CA18DE with individual throttle bodies into it.

Hay sooty, the super charger will be a long term thing, maybe a year or two. I am not keen on a turbo because to me its the easy way out and its been DONE TO DEATH. I am up for the challange and the biggest issue is I want to be different. Rego and insurance arnt big issues and I am not keen on pro racing, just fun on weekends at the drag strip or local track. Cheers for the interest and watch this space for Power figures in a few months.

It's a 1.8 liter engine, which is good for so much power. Plus it is a 4-valve head, which is good for more. A lot more than say the L18.
