I was working over at Taren Point the other week and I spotted a 1200 sedan outside Holden at Sutherland, Princes Hwy. Then when working at Taren Point I spotted a 1200 coupe up ontop of a shipping container inside a ceramic coating workshop. Next while getting lunch on Bay Rd a dude in a blue 1000 wagon rolls up to grab his lunch.
I regularly see 2 1200 utes in Smithfield each afternoon.
They are still out there but nowdays most cars on the road are 95 models or later.

less datsuns down in melbourne on the roads daily.... but im trying motivate people to keep them going... almost got run off the road by a over enthusiastic ute owner wanting to know where to get an iginition barrel for his... he hot wires it to start it.

its just a shame most of the datsuns blow smoke or are rusting out from years of abuse..... damn cheap affordable transport for the masses, the bettle wants the only one... 120ys for all

You obviously dont go out the bayswater/wantirna way ever

the place is teeming with them

i see 1600s and 120ys out eltham way too fairly regular
theres a zippy yellow 1600 down my parents street

havent seen any at all since living here though
guess no one with a datto wants to come to the outer 'burbs

it's a good sign. they need to be kept off the road and not used as daily drivers anyway

I could tell you where all the street Datsuns have gone. They have gone in the garage because since the Datsun is a rare car, some people buy the car and then restore them compely to factory new and don't take them out, unless it is to a antique car show, afraid they might mess up the car.

Hidden in garages, people are stealing them right off the street in some places with cranes!

Mine is still street legal but since the roll cage makes insurance companies nervous I don't bother to register it

My little wagon is a daily driver, it just made it to 40,000 miles for the first time, it's the only car I've ever driven that easily fits between parked cars and trams in traffic, it's great to watch people try to follow me in traffic. It daily does about 20 miles and get to a top speed of 45 miles. $20 per week is all it needs and still has fuel for the weekend. I still have not fitted a clock or a radio, and I still use the original 4w drums, the car is completely original granny spec.

I see a few 1200 utes or a 200b.
