Well a short little summary of my weekend. I finished my car on the morning of good friday ready for the cruise down. all seemed to go well, met the 1200 fellas and ladies in cranny and cruised down to register.

Race day i managed two timed lap sessions but on the second one i managed to snap two of the turbo to turbo manifold studs off and blow the gasket to ####, leaving me no boost and sounding like a truck! i ended up biting the bullet and taking the entire turbo and manifold off the car and fixing the studs and using copper goo for a makeshift gasket, thanks to all that helped! i finished at 4:50 pm, missing the final session so i ended up with a best time of 2:02, about middle of my class.

it was great to catch up with all the datfreaks i already know and good to put a face to the cyberspace names that i know too.

as usual i'm now inspired to keep developing my car and ironing out all the things that are slowing me down, including my driver skill!

heres a pick to get the ball rolling...

only 10 psi, but one thing i learnt (i'm sure i already knew it) is that its not all about the power. my car handled really well after the mods i did which i reckon gave me a big advantage over some more powerful 1600's.

i was faster that a 300kw fj20 turbo 1600, a 240kw sr20det 1600 and a couple of 190kw 1600's. i had standard rear drums and only mildly upgraded front brakes and only got six timed laps in a car that i am not really used to. the handling (thanks to all the help from sikyne again!) is what kept me up there with much more powerful cars.

was a fantastic 3days. i did the navigation rally/cruise on the morning of the trackday(saturday) with benny, dattodude, ange, trb012, 4NIK8 and a heap of others, there were around 60 cars doing the cruise and 84 registered for the trackday. while we were belting around the country side the track boys were being breifed and doing they're track familiarisation and first timed runs.
at the end of the rally we ended up back at the GP circuit and got to do 3 escorted laps of the track before being parked in the middle paddocks and getting to watch the rest of the trackday.
today(sunday) was the concourse with 100+ cars.
the 1200s are in the pics, there was a couple others as well, a $@#t load of Z's and 1600's - 4 and 2 door, a small range of Prince's and a bunch of skylines of varying models.
was awsome seeing so many dattos squashed into one place. was also great to catch up with members from here, the usual melbourne guys/gals and the boys from interstate, put faces to names and check out the cars in person.

two years to go boys and girls

at 75kmh's the track was great left plenty of wondering minds about how it would be at real speeds

I called Benny twice during the weekend & he seemed to be having a ball, although he seemed to think that numbers were down on the Goulburn Nationals two years ago.
What do others think.

As for me, I couldn't be in two places at once & I am working on Monday, so I spent a couple of days at the 'other Nationals' in Goulburn. Over 1,000 cars & a lot of old friends that I haven't seen in many years. For some it was more than 20 years. Too many cars to see in just 2 days, but that's another story.

Looking forward to seeing more first hand reports & lots more pictures.
