I wish they ran hillclimbs like this over here. I know there are a few hillclimbs in NSW and one in QLD that are held on closed roads, but they're still very short - around 1km
QLD only has one real hillclimb venue open to multi-club events - Mt Cotton. The Historic Racing Car Club's annual Noosa Historic Hillclimb is a multi-club event but good luck getting in if you're not a HRCC member!
I went to Grafton (northern NSW) for a hillclimb yesterday only to turn around and come home again when they called it off because it was wet! What the hell is that??? There was no dirt/mud washed onto the circuit to clean up, no standing pools of water, just a bit of rain!
I've run in torrential rain at Mt Cotton, with water literally running down the hills... I've run at Morgan Park where a bunch of drivers, myself included, have picked up shovels and brooms to clean up mud and rocks off the track from storms the night before while its still raining, so we could start the event.
I had the car off the trailer, discovered the wipers don't work... and was busy applying the rain-x and fog-x when they came and told me not to bother - "it's raining"
So 4hrs driving each way, $130 in fuel and $70 in accomodation for nothing... you NSW boys are bloody soft
