Have used a stanza strut with r31 shock with the strut tube cut down to length.

To use the r31 insert I had to drill out the strut top to take the bigger shaft size and then Mig and file the flat that locates the shaft and stops the nut undoing the bearing also needed to be slightly modified to fit the shaft.

To use the r31 calliper I used the stanza hub with the large vannett vented rotor (bolt on) had strut mounting lugs machined flat on back and the holes offset drilled closer to stub axel taking out the thread as skyline callipers are threaded. Then had approx 8mm machined of the callipers mounting lugs to get the offset correct this would depend on how much need to be taken of the mounting lugs on the strut to get them flat. With a little relieving of the cooling fins on the calliper they fit inside 13inch hotwires.

To run 15s with ease I have also decided to move the spring platform up by 30mm this enabled a variety of different wheel offsets to be used including TRX rims with 205/50 tyres

See the photo section for pics

Hi mate,
Ive done a similar conversion on my ute.
It uses the Stanza struts with Girlock callipers. The strut has been cut down 2" to fit 200B inserts (no need to modify strut tops) also kept the same overall travel as the 1200 strut (Shorter insert body, longer throw).

For the disc's I used BMW 290mm ventilated discs, got them as a blank. drilled the correct bolt spacing into them and machined 0.200" inch off the back of the stanza hub.

Same deal as your with the R31 callipers. Drilled out the thread on the Stanza strut, surfaced the back side and machined the calliper mounting lug to suit the disc offset.

With the 290mm disc however you don't need to redrill the calliper mounting hole on the strut.

any pics of just the strut and just the caliper to see mods more clearly?

A couple of points I want to ask about.

1. is this thread actually meant to be part of another thread? cos to me it reads like it is meant to be.

2. I am still unsure of some of the machining you did, if I wanted to pursue a setup like this I want different brake callipers but still retain some 13 inch wheel clearance.
