yeah D there is a few common
crownwheel and pinnion ratio's including 4.11 & 3.78:1 for sprintcars and a multitude of transfer gears available giving ratio's of anywhere between 5:1 & about 8.5:1 depending on whats required for track size

yeah it's pretty cool, halibrand is more old
school now with 800+ hp ratio's like that are not required so much, on big tracks in the states they don't go much above 6:1!!!

The 910 Bluebird was built as the L series powered Series 2 up untill January 1985, then as the series 3 with the unloved CA20 engine from February 1985.
The series 2 wagons with Auto's & with 5 speeds used the H165 while the poverty pack option with the 4 speed gearbox had the H190. All of the series 3 cars had the H190, so I am at a loss as to which "Circa 1984-'85" wagons you are refering to.

Why not go all the way! Chop down a 9inch, fit a Mark Williams centre, a set of Richmond gears, some 31 spline hollow axles drilled for Datto PCD. (Available from Driveline Services) Worked well in a blown 383 72 Hemi Cuda.
I know it's late and I'm getting old and senile

coz a 9 inch defeats the purpose of having a 1000
bluebird h165, or h190 if you really need strength, cut down about 200mm (got measurements somewhere) should do the trick need to use the larger drums off the bluebird though so may not be able to fit 12s, or you have to get the axle flange machined down in size to suit 1200 ute or 120y drums

Well said Pigdog a 9 inch needs like 8hp just to turn the bloody things!
For a K as soon as any part is 25% heavier than the original its rooted. [size=medium][color=000099][font=Impact] You can view topic.
