I think I'm starting to like this internet stuff.
B310GX-Your actually still alive..is that the sunny you started building 20 years ago?
Stevo1000-How is that rocket going? God I miss that car.Did you do a Head Gasket?

Well project 1200 Supercar is underway-thanks for the body Teretonga...Hopefully we can get it going sooner rather than later and give those big boys a run for there money for outright in IPRA.

Hi John, what engine are you going to run in the 1200 supercar?

Steve Draheim has really started taking up the fight to the rotaries for outright this year up here in QLD IPRA with a CA18DET 1200coupe, winning the last State Champ round (although there were some notable rotaries missing). Some handling improvements before the last round were the main changes, and he'll soon have some more bhp as well...

Just picture it - 1200's winning IPRA outright in 2 out of 3 eastern states shame Wakefield cleaned up Mark Short's (from VIC or SA?) Datsun 120Y (which is almost a 1200) at last year's nationals, as he had real potential for outright honours as well. He won at least 1 Tri State race at the Nationals if memory serves correctly.

anyway welcome aboard,

Harry

PS. we want pics of your cars!!!

Harry

I'm doing what is proven CA18Det in a 1200 Coupe.I ran 1200's in the 90's in IPRA (back then called CLUB CARS) with an A series and won the state titles and nationals many times.I first used the Ex Bill Evans Bathurst car, then figured I should not be doing this to this car, then built an Evo 2 1200 and then raced John Taylors Pedders Suspension 1200 and broke the lap record at every circuit we contested..ahhh those were the days.
I've had a rest for the last 6 years on 1200's, have been racing a fair bit in Japan for Mazda (MX5's) and teaching Advanced Driving for Ian Luff.
Some pretty serious cars being built and run down here...what a thought, a 1200 blowing away Nascar engined Commodores and Toranas (don't forget those Mazda's)
I will put plenty of pics up of all the stuff I have done over the years with 1200's as soon as I figure out how to do it hehe..this internet stuff is still quite new to me.

John

no frog,it's another one completely, but i still have the sr20de from that one.what's happening with the civic you were building up.saw cookie yesterday at wakefield in a gts-t skyline, that things got some real stick.had some fun with the 240 & 260z's,they were pulling away from me on the main straight, but i always got them into the kink.was a top day yesterday, good weather for turbo's,the air was real good & moist.got 5 runs at 4 laps each.20 laps in total, woohoo.some people have been discussing about a get together, wakefield park would be a good place, but in summer, because it was 3 degrees at 12 noon there yesterday, with a wind straight off the snowy mountains.

Hey John Steve D will be bringing his ca18 1200 down to Oran park soon for one of the rounds in the series he is running in. I was going to go give him a hand would be a good day to catch up and do some checking out !! From what Ive heard its a very well setup car well it must be to give the rotors a run for there money. Steve makes lots of fibreglass moulds to suit the 1200's flares spoilers and bobtail.

he'll be there guys. It's the IPRA Nationals meeting August 30/31.

I'll be going out to his next race meeting at Morgan Park on Sunday week to get some pics of him in action, and maybe some detail shots of engine bay etc.
