I hear from a good source that the L28 weighs not much less than a ford 302 V8! not sure about hemi??

you should have no problem getting some wide rudder under the wheelarches! take a look at this photo : http://www.classicrally.com.au/classi64.jpg

A ford 302 weighs 450 lbs, compared to a Chevrolet 302/350 at 500lbs. The (old) Chrysler hemi weighs over 600lbs.

Okinawamericano is an American living in Okinawa, Japan (I think, this is the first time I've heard it -- D and his clever words!). There is one club member that fits that description ...

Harry I hope you can get to Targa NZ - you'd have a bunch of support over there and it is a great event. Are they running a South Island one in 2004?

D, can you translate Japanese? Or anyone here for that matter?

How about babelfish? Not perfect but makes those hieroglyps much more understandable.

That seems to be the plan that Mike and his team are following.. For this year it will start in Wellington and go North so we see all the cars this time. Hopefully a good ex pat mate will be bringing his Ferrari over from Oz . He ran in his 1st Targa Tasmania this year and finished 21st I think. I reckon the Targa style rallys are the best value for money motorsport out there. I'm with Harry and believe a well prepped 1200 could really do well like the 1600 did in Tassie.

Still makes me wonder how a four door gemini with a turbo 2.6ltr 4 was allowed to compete a couple of yeats ago????

That car,to my understanding has never run Targa.
Was run in a small event called The Classic Challenge and may have run in Rally Tas which is all tarmac. The regulations for Rally Tas are a less "anal" than Targa..
Rally Tas is a good event to run as trial before you attempt Targa as its run over 2 days instead of 5 and the road conditions a very similiar

Can someone tell me the cost factor involved in entering Targa? I have been thinking for a while about building a car and entering. Also can someone tell me where i can get my hands on a set of Targa rules?

Depending on what class you run, historic, classic or modern,It can vary from $2500 to about $4500.Thats just your entry fee.Associated costs for the week depend on you.

A Big Block Buick 455 with Aluminum heads and intake weighs less than a Small Block Chevy 350, and puts out more power than ANY similar built big block (Ford 460, Chrysler 440, Olds 455, Pontiac 455, Chevy 454) but build costs are at least 25% more than any of the others. Anyone catch that article in Hot Rod magazine about this? It'd be overkill in a Datsun, but it has got to be the most under-rated V8 of all time. Sorry to go off topic, but I just wanted to throw my pro-Buick stint in there. I love them almost as much as Datsuns.
