ok so im running a h165 diff in my ute and i would like to upgrade my brakes to discs on the back ,so far i have been looking at one thread that has some good info

but

will the series 1 or 2 blue bird brakes bolt straight on, calipers and discs aswell??

and before i waste my time ,is it worth putting 4 wheel discs on a ute ??

Im sure it could be done. I reckon R31 could be used. The rotor would go straight on. but you would probally need to make up a custom mounting bracket for the caliper itself. Plus the cost of handbrake cables.

So at the end of the day you need to ask is it worth the effort and money as the stock drum brakes are quite efficient and more than adequate for a street car.

Yeah if your just staying A series even boosted then just do up the brakes E.g new wheel cylinders, Pads get drums machined replace any cracked worn lines. Finding a good disc setup and then replacing machining all that gear will sting you. Bluebird rear is the easier conversion, R31 is a bit more complex.

mate depends on how good u wanna stop... i have a sedan and i have a mitsubishi scorpian diff and disk brakes and it stops perfect pulls up a hell of alot better than the drums.. but the only problem is that they are alot stronger than the stanza brakes i have on the front end.. too hard to do a line locker as the rear brakes are too strong lol but id get disks because they stop better and they look alot better than drum brakes!!! thats my opinion anyway

bluebird stuff, series 1 2 or 3, will bolt straight on. just have to mod the brake lines to suit the flexy lines to the calipers

R31 are also almost straight bolt on, need to drill 2 or 3 holes and weld 2 pieces. then same deal with the flexi lines, and you have to sort out hand brake cables

could do either setup for under $200 easy enough if the donor stuff is in decent condition

only ever seen stuff to suit 1600s on ebay

Safety is no.1 prioraty, Discs are the way to go

I put ford XR3 front discs (not ventalated) on my ute, Had to drill new holes for datsun pcd. not shure wat diff h???
but the std in sa.
I used honda v-tec rear calipers(all i could get that at the time)
I made a bracked that bolts strait to the diff,
it workes grate and looks even better

Best of luck to you

I have a set of mouning plates for the skyline caliper if you dont have any. Plus set of old rotors you can have.

I know you have a set of calipers in your junk pile.
