I've heard that before... hehe.
I've wanted to do it for a long time now though. I'm still gonna keep it looking real stock, with the venetians and visor. Even keeping the interior original.
It's too late now anyway, I've already spent a lot of cash on parts for the conversion.
It'll be looked after, don't worry ;)

find a work needing 1000, 1200, stanza or 120y coupe and do it, this van is worth more as is
and beauty of a coupe is that youll be able to sell it easier than a modified wagon.
There are plenty of 1000 coupes in ADL and MADDAT was considering doing one up with a ca18
so yours could be the first and then kits could be available for others.
This wagon is absolutely beautiful and reliable. Its like a clock that will appreciate
and not let you down.

with all that money you could have something better than this for the street and make many
expensive porsche, gtr and bmw cry and wonder...."what was that a datsun? but but but"

Haha, or think of crazy ways to improve it, just ask D ;)

I do love the A, I also have a sr20det 1600 that will soon be pushing 250rwkw. I love them both for very different reasons

Haha, I gave up on listening to others opinions long ago.
There's no going back now. Too far into the process.
I've wanted to do it for a long time, and I'm glad it's finally happening.
LAGWAGON, if you have any tips I'd love to hear them.
So far the whole car is stripped, the tunnel is in and im just about to do the holes for the brake booster and the gearbox crossmember. Then off to the panelbeater and to get resprayed. Then IRS and fuel system.
Got it all sorted out. I think. hehe.
I'm just not looking forward to the wiring part. Does anybody have any easy-to-read diagrams or instructions??

yeah dont worry about the whole neat stock thing getting you more money...a neat engineered CA wagon will always be worth more, but thats coz you will have spent a whole heap more on it obviously. but who owns a datsun to make money anyway?

IRS you say? that is interesting. more info?

i have CA wiring diagrams if you need them. not that hard to figure out what needs power and earth. only about 6 wires needed to be adapted to the 1200 loom to make a CA run

and D, i'll never go back to an A series. L series is my fall back engine

Ok, so I thought I'd show people the progress on the wagon since my last post.

So far all the bodywork has been completed (rust cut out, welded, panels straightened - Thanks Stuart Simpson, and the shell has been painted - Thanks Lachie Peterson.

It's now at Maddat, got the front brakes/suspension on, new wheels, brake booster/clutch all fitted, all brake and fuel lines run, and about to get started with the IRS setup.
Last weekend we finally fit the engine in and bolted up all the mounts and cut the shifter hole in the new trans tunnel.

And as for the brake booster setup, I had to also install a willwood valve in order to distribute properly between the front and back brake setups.
Scott from maddat has also installed a new clutch pedal setup that is more rigid and solid, so my car is the tester. Should be available there pretty soon I think. Not too expensive either.

Oh, and one last thing, does anybody have a shifter to suit a CA gearbox that they're willing to part with?? The one I got with the engine is shortened and welded pretty dodgy.

Here's the links to a few photos I took last weekend.(I still don't know how to get them to show in forums, even after all this time, haha. If anyone can help out that'd be great!)
