Ever so rare to even find pictures of these race developed AY12 engines

Those are both the same video. I wonder if it runs?

The most AY12 information is right here on Datsun1200.com. It was a FWD motor.

i like that it sounds like its running,doesn't appear to have a bottom radiator hose on it.coil mounted on inner guard no lead.

I would love to see actual pics of the combustion chambers, to me it looks like the AY head put the spark plugs where the intake ports were and the AY valve guide is centered where the plugs are in a A series head..............perhaps they just swapped.

The FWD thing could have been to promote the sales of the Cherry and
maybe a healthy competing exercise for another team within Nissan to
add chances of success within its small cars lineup.
In the AY and most hemi NAs the piston is too heavy for NA due to the
poor valve angles whereas the e15 has much better angled valves.
However the e15 port angles are low mainly for low rpm torque whereas
the AY seems to be a compromise for performance and clearance issues.
Jags v12s had the best high port inlets on the May HE heads.
